Akira's Pov

In the morning, Vince was giving me a death glare as I headed out. I ignored him and made my way back home, where Brian was still sprawled out, snoozing on my bed.

Classic Brian. I gave him a nudge.

"Morning. Just got back?" he groaned, squinting up at me.

"Yep. Hungry? I can whip up some breakfast, Brian Earl Spilner," I offered, smirking.

As he dragged himself awake,"Nah, let's have it outside after you take a bath. I'll fill you in on everything,"

I got ready as he suggested, and we left the house and he started filling me in on his mission—a big deal that could snag him a promotion.

We got into it, analyzing Dominic and whether he might be involved. Brian was on the fence.

"Do you think Dom did it?" I asked, genuinely curious.

Brian shook his head. "Nah... I don't know. He didn't really give me those vibes, you know?"

Before we could dig deeper, sirens cut through the air. An unmarked police car pulled up out of nowhere. "Brian, why are they coming for you like this?" I asked, sighing.

He shrugged, playing it off, but as the cops closed in, we had no choice but to step out. They patted us down, checking for weapons, and I couldn't help but feel seriously over it.

Next thing I knew, we were cuffed and carted off to God-knows-where. As we bumped along, Brian demanded, "What did we even do?" but the officers weren't spilling.

Eventually, we landed in some undercover lair. They started by removing Brian's constraints, who immediately began griping about his handcuffs.

"Damn, Muse! Can you take these things off? Shit! You put them on so tight," Brian groaned, wriggling his wrists.

Muse smirked. "I like realism."

I chimed in, rubbing my own sore wrists. "Seriously, you bruised me."

"Drama queen," which got a scoff from Brian. But I caught Muse's surprise when I winked at him. Couldn't resist stirring the pot just a little.

As we were escorted further in, Brian couldn't help himself. "Nice crib, Sergeant. Way nicer than the last dump you guys commandeered."

I jumped in, showing off some random trivia. "Eddie Fisher built this for Elizabeth Taylor back in the '50s. How'd you even get your hands on it?"

The Sergeant shot us a smug grin. "You know how it is."

"Even cops go Hollywood in Hollywood." Brian said damatically.

He added, "And you, miss, shouldn't have left the force."
