Akira's POV

Dom turned to Brian, his face all serious, like he was about to drop some life-changing advice. "You got big plans tonight?"

Brian nodded, trying to play it cool but looking a little hyped. "Yeah. We're going out to dinner."

Dom's expression didn't budge. "You break her heart, I'll break your neck."

Brian held up his hands like, Chill, dude. "That's not gonna happen."

But Dom wasn't done. "What about Akira?"

Brian blinked, totally confused. "Huh?"

Dom clarified, like he was pointing out something obvious. "I think she loves you."

Brian still looked like someone hit him with a plot twist. "I don't think so?"

Dom wasn't buying it. "Does she know about you and Mia?"

Brian paused, chewing on the thought. "No. But I think she has an idea."

Dom shook his head, like seriously, dude? "Why don't you just tell her?"

Taking the hint, Brian turned and called out to me. "Hey, Akira!"

"What?" I called back, already over whatever nonsense he was about to pull.

"Come here," he said, motioning me over.

With an exaggerated sigh, I wiped my hands on a cloth and walked toward him. "Ha... What do you want now?"

Brian dropped the bomb like it was no big deal. "I'm going on a date with Mia tonight."

My face scrunched up immediately. "Are you making it official?"

"Yeah. Why—"

"Mia!" I yelled, cutting him off mid-sentence. She came rushing over, looking slightly panicked. "What is it, Akira?"

I pointed dramatically at Brian. "Are you going out with him?"

She nodded, looking a little nervous.

"Why him? He's not good for you. Just go out with me; I'm way better," I said, dead serious.

Mia rolled her eyes, letting out an exasperated huff. "God, you scared me to death!" she grumbled, stomping off.

I shrugged nonchalantly. "I was being serious, though..."

Brian didn't let it slide. He marched up, hands around my neck and pretended to choke me

cough "How can you—cough—choke a girl?" I croaked, squirming as he grinned like an idiot.

"Brat, you gave me a mini heart attack!" he snapped, giving my neck a playful squeeze.

"Ugh... Let me... go!" I gasped, and with one solid elbow to his side, I made my escape. "Ow!" Brian groaned, stumbling back.

I rubbed my neck, shooting him a glare. "You almost choked me to death, you psycho!"

That's when Dom lost it, laughing so hard he had to lean against the car.

Brian and I glanced at each other, realizing we were acting like literal toddlers.

Dom wiped a tear from his eyes. "Come with me. I wanna show you something."

We followed him to his house, curiosity piqued. Once in the garage, Dom gestured to a pristine 1970 Dodge Charger R/T.

"Whoa..." I gasped, practically drooling. "She's gorgeous."

Dom's chest puffed up with pride. "Me and my dad built her. Nine hundred horses of Detroit muscle. It's a beast."

He leaned back, clearly loving the awe on our faces. "You know what she ran in Palmdale?"
