Akira's Pov

"In the end, I still agreed to do it," I muttered with a resigned sigh.

"Alright, let's run through the bases real quick. Who do we got?" Brian kicked off the discussion.

"First, we're going to need a chameleon—someone who can blend in anywhere," I said, leaning back against the railings.

Dom didn't miss a beat. "Got it. Next?"

"A fast talker. Someone who can bullshit their way out of anything," I added with a knowing grin.

Brian chuckled, already catching my drift. "Oh, we definitely got that," he said, shooting me a smirk.

Rome's face was practically written all over that description.

Dom continued sharply. "A guy's gonna have surveillance everywhere. We'll need someone good with circuits. And with those circuits, there'll be walls—thick ones. We'll need people who can punch through those."

I took a sip of my coffee and tilted my head. "What else?"

"Utilities and weapons. Someone who's not afraid to throw them down," Dom replied matter-of-factly.

"How much more do you need?" I groaned, watching as he grabbed my coffee and casually took a sip. "Uh, excuse you, that's mine," I grumbled under my breath.

He ignored me entirely. "We're gonna need backups for every position," he continued, as Brian nodded in agreement.

"And?" Brian asked, leaning forward.

Dom's voice took on a weightier tone. "Last and most important: two precision drivers. People who don't crack under pressure. People who never lose."

Brian's confidence radiated as he leaned back with a grin. "You know we got that."

A Few Days Later

Today was the day Rome, Tej, and the rest of Dom's team were showing up. The house was about to get real crowded. I opened the fridge and winced. Nearly empty.

Great.

"Hey, Mia, I'm heading out to grab some groceries. With everyone coming, we're gonna need enough to feed an army," I called out as I grabbed my keys.

Mia appeared from the other room. "Don't forget Dom's Corona this time," she reminded me.

I chuckled. "Yeah, thanks. I almost forgot." I shuddered dramatically. "The last time I forgot, he looked at me like I'd personally betrayed him. I swear he didn't smile until I brought it back."

Mia laughed. "Yeah, Dom and his Corona. It's sacred."

I rolled my eyes as I got into the car.

Damn near feels like blackmail.

Later That Afternoon

I unloaded the groceries and drove back to the warehouse. As I parked, I spotted a mix of familiar and new faces hanging around outside.

Before I could even shut the car door, Rome came bounding over like an overexcited golden retriever. "Babeeeeee!" Scooping me up and spinning me like we were in some cheesy rom-com.

"Rome! I missed you too," I sang, laughing as I kissed his cheek before turning to Tej. "Akii! How you been, girl?" Tej greeted me with his signature charm, pulling me into a hug.

"Not bad... for now," I replied with a smirk, before I could respond, Rome yanked me back dramatically.

"Hey, she's my girl. Don't touch her with your stank hands," Rome huffed.
