Akira's POV

I was chilling in Los Angeles, managing football training for kids, enjoying the simplicity of life and the memories I was making. Then my phone rang—Brian.

"Akira, can you help me with something? We need to break Dom out. He's being transferred to a blacksite prison," he said, all urgency and no chill.

I snapped. "Brian, are you kidding me? You didn't tell me you were working with Letty? I could've done something to help her!"

My voice cracked with frustration and anger. Her death was a wound I hadn't even begun to heal, and Brian's secrecy made it worse. But still, I knew I'd help.

Now here I am.

When Dom was being transported to Lompoc by bus, Mia and Brian led the charge, flipping the thing and crashing it in a way that screamed "FBI Most Wanted." Dom was out in seconds.

As the dust settled and we picked him up, literally from the ground, Dom had the nerve to smirk at me. "Hey there, beautiful."

I wasn't in the mood. "Shut up!" I snapped with a sharp kick to his side. "Put him in my car," I ordered, my tone ice-cold.

The sirens in the distance snapped us back to reality.

Brian hesitated. "Akira, I—"

I didn't let him finish. I kicked him square in the shin, enough to make him stagger. "I'll text you the location. Go there and lay low. We'll meet you later."

Without waiting for a response, I shoved Dom into the car and hit the gas.

"Thank y—" Dom started, but I cut him off.

"Shut up! Just shut up! Don't say anything, don't do anything. Just sit there and breathe quietly," I hissed.

"Why are you so angry?" he asked, like he couldn't see the storm in my eyes.

"Why am I angry?!!" I exploded. "Letty's dead, and it's all Brian's fault! He didn't tell me anything until it was late! Mia had to fill in the blanks, and now I'm just supposed to what—be fine with everything!?"

Dom stared at me for a second, then leaned over and kissed me. "Mhmp!" I slammed the brakes, biting down on his lips. He pulled back with a grunt of pain.

"Why the hell would you do that?" he asked, bewildered.

I rubbed my lips, glaring at him. "Why would you do that?"

He smirked slightly, still catching his breath. "You calm now?" I blinked, the question catching me off guard. I sighed, leaning back against the seat. "Yeah, I'm calm. For now."

"Take me to Ecuador," he said after a beat, his voice quieter, sadder.

I glanced at him, taking in the weight of his expression.

'Damn, he looks like he's carrying the world.'

Without another word, I shifted gears and kept driving.

After a while, I reached over and patted his back. "Alright, big guy. Buckle up. I'm treating you to whatever you want."

He chuckled a little disbelieving. "Anything? I'm high maintenance, Yuri."

"And I'm rich." I replied with a small smile, the tension easing just a little.

We drove on, heading for Rio.
