Alizay glanced at her daughter sat beside her in the car seat. After crying continuously, Inara had fallen asleep, hugging her little teddy bear to her chest.

Even after all these years, Alizay had known that her former father-in-law went to bed early after having his medication. She had stopped by the house and ensured that Rohail's car wasn't parked in the driveway, and she had taken a major risk by going inside.

To get Inara to come along, Alizay had to bring the stupid kitten, but she planned to get rid of it as soon as she possibly could. No way was she or her husband going to tolerate that unbearable feline. The only reason Inara herself was coming was because she was Alizay's ticket to stardom.

One obstacle stood in her way, that Alizay had no access to Inara's passport, but she planned on taking Inara to Islamabad and renew her passport at the US Embassy by claiming that her passport was lost. This was yet another risk, because she might get caught.

But in the meantime, she could make videos of herself with Inara and spread them all over social media to make them viral, to act like a 'bechari' mom who had been separated from her daughter by her wicked ex-husband. She would be rolling in money after that!

The first step would be to not take an international flight out immediately. Rohail would be expecting that. She and Inara would be going to Islamabad by road early the next morning, because it had less risks.

Alizay glanced at Inara again. Sometimes even she herself found it odd how she still had no maternal feelings towards the little girl. At first, the doctors had suspected a postnatal depression,  and she had even agreed to some therapy (for Rohail's sake). But it became quickly obvious to the doctor that she did not in fact suffer from the condition that a lot of mothers faced after childbirth. Alizay just simply never managed to form that bond with Inara, something that was almost considered a rare phenomenon.

As the driver pulled up into the circular driveway of the hotel where she was staying, Alizay reached out and gently grabbed Inara's small hand. For a few moment, she sat staring at the small palm, at the tiny fingers. The palm had green and blue marks all over it, as if Inara had been using markers or pens. There was a tiny cut at the tip of her pinkie finger, possibly caused by a slip-up during nail cutting.

I don't even know who she is, what she likes and dislikes, what she watches, what she likes doing for fun. Alizay blinked at the sudden realisation. Am I doing injustice towards her by taking her away from her father, the man who is probably even familiar with every single breath she took?

But then she thought about how Inara could live with her in the US, have all toys and everything that she wanted, as long as she followed the path that Alizay decided for her. Inara would always have everything she wanted.

Except a loving parent, I suppose.

A small part of Alizay felt guilty. She may not have a maternal bond with her daughter, but she was still a grown woman taking a three-years-old girl away from the father that she loved and adored, and vice versa.

Pushing aside any lingering emotions, Alizay stepped out of the car and gestured with a finger for a hotel staff member to come over. As per the hotel policy, a member of staff always awaited an arriving vehicle to greet guests.

"Yes, madam?" The man rushed over, dressed in the henna green bellboy uniform.

"Pick up my daughter and bring her up to my room." Alizay ordered him.
