-Ink's POV-
I swing my brush at Nightmare. He dodges the ink and quickly opens a portal to another au. His gang quickly followed him.
"Hurry! They're getting away!" I shout at Blue and Dream who are panting from exhaustion. I reach out towards the portal. But before I could enter, it closed. I quickly slam my fist at the ground. "Damn! They got away again!"
"At least this au was saved." Blue chimes in, probably trying to calm me down.
"Dream! Hurry and track down your brother again! We were so close this time!" I demand.
"Ink, please! I need to rest for a bit. I can't keep entering sad au's. It's taking its toll on me." Dream pleads.
"You'll rest when Nightmare is captured. I have to find Error quickly!" I state stubbornly.
"Ink, I understand that you want to find your friend quickly, but Dream needs to rest. At this rate, we'll all be exhausted when we finally find them." Blue tries to calm me down.
"Which is another reason we should continue! Nightmare and his gang should also be getting tired after trying to destroy so many aus! It would be a good time to capture them!"
"But unlike Nightmare, Dream becomes weaker the more he's near negativity. It will only get worse if he doesn't rest."
"Fine! If he is so tired, then just say the au's name so that I can make the portal and go myself!"
"T-that wouldn't work!" Dream states, gaining some strength. "Even if I told you the au's name, there are so many copies of them that it would be difficult to find the correct one."
For some reason, that ticked me off. Should I be angered at the fact that Dream is useless or by his implications that I shouldn't have even made those copies in the first place? What's wrong with creating a few copies just to see new possible stories? It's not like it's hurting anyone. *Author of the story wishes to pummel Ink's face in*
"And what if that time you used for rest is enough time for Nightmare to harm her?! Fine! If you don't want to help me then just go back home!" I shout, enraged.
Dream and Blue still at that. I can see them make hurt expressions. I scoff at that and quickly walk off.
"Wait!" Dream shouts at me as I splash ink on the floor. Creating another portal that hopefully leads to Error. I hop in, ignoring their calls.
Stepping outside my ink, I find myself returning to my light domain. Although I don't want to admit it, I can't track Nightmare as well as Dream can. I can only track an au being destroyed after the first unscripted monster dies. But even then, the feeling is faint, so I must pay close attention to it. Meaning, I won't know when or how long Nightmare would be in an au if he doesn't start killing more irrelevant monsters.
I quickly rush past all the aus floating nearby, trying to see if there are any new changes to their stories. Although I can't feel a change until a monster dies, that doesn't mean I can't see their changes on the au's. Finally, I spot a change to one of the aus and quickly teleport towards it. Without thinking twice, I portal myself into the au.
Landing myself inside Horrortale, I expected to find Nightmare about to kill monsters. But what I find is another skeleton clouded in a dark robe wielding a scythe and carrying a stuffed toy bunny with another skeleton hiding someone behind him. And after taking a closer look, it looks like...Error!
"Error!" I shout, teleporting to her and quickly picking her up. She looks at me in shock as I find myself hugging her with all my strength. I heard her wheeze in pain but chose to ignore it. My entire being calms down with a feeling of excitement as I shake uncontrollably. I can't believe I almost lost her! I don't ever want to lose this feeling! Then, I remember the other two skeletons and rage consumes me.
Without thinking twice, I swing my broom at them both as they quickly teleport to dodge it. I stand up, hiding Error behind me.
"You two! What are you doing with her!" I question, taking my red vial and about to drink it.
"W-we were talking with each other!" The one-eyed Sans says. The other, just staring at me in boredom.
"Got a problem with that?" He questions.
"I-Ink! I d-didn't expect to find you here!" Error says, gulping. She must be scared after not seeing me for so long!
"Don't worry, you're safe as long as I'm here. I'll take you back to my light area, your anti-void isn't safe anymore. Nightmare somehow found your place." I say, bringing my vail to my mouth and drinking it. Suddenly, rage consumes me.
"Wait!" I hear Error shout but ignore it to continuously attack the two Sanses. I swing my broom, splashing out ink which the two quickly teleport away from repeatedly. And although I instigated the fight, the two refused to attack back. That is...until I forced them to.
Quickly teleporting behind the one-eyed Sans, I slam him with my broom. Sending him flying away and crashing into the dusty-pink snow. This ticked off the other Sans and he proceeds to swing his scythe at me. Which I counter using my broom. The snow dances around us as we exchange blows. Hearing the echoing of our weapons clashing with one another.
Suddenly, I hear the one-eyed Sans teleport behind me. Without thinking twice, I summon a bone and counter his bones as he strikes both at me. This makes him freeze up in shock as I quickly take this opportunity to jump up and kick both Sanses away.
Once again, they slide across the landscape before recovering. They summon Gaster Blasters in the hope that they'll hurt me. I teleport away just as they're blasted and quickly come to the conclusion that the one-eyed Sans is the weaker one.
Teleporting behind the one-eyed Sans, I swing my broom at him which splashes out the color purple. It restrains him, thus leaving him out of this battle. I turn to look at the other Sans. He frowns at me while shoving the toy bunny into his robe. Is it perhaps important to him?
We sprint towards each other, once again clashing our weapons. He makes snarky comments at me while I growl in annoyance. Going for a kick, the Sans takes a step back, just barely missing the attack which is centimeters away from making contact with his skull. I jump towards him as he bows at me, causing me to hop over. He grabs my foot and slams me into the snow.
I spin kick him, also making him tumble. We both summon Gaster Blasters, but just before we blast each other, blue strings quickly wrap around us. It pulls us away from each other and I hang there in confusion. Quickly turning to look to see who summoned these strings, I see Error shaking with widened eye sockets. Has she always had this ability? She stutters out a sentence.
"P-please stop I-Ink! T-they're not bad people!" Error says. It is then I notice that the one-eyed Sans sits next to her, still locked in my purple paint. Error stares at everywhere but me as she completes her thought. "T-they actually saved me from N-Nightmare!"
I throw up ink in shock. What?!
