It has been a thousand years since Ink has been locked up and everything else has come to pass. Today is the last day for his sentence, and I'm planning personally bring him out. I look at Nightmare who is currently sitting on the couch watching UnderTale. It's the one au that has yet to finish its story, and I always wondered what was missing.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" I hear Nightmare ask even as he watches the au. I smile and say yes.
As I walk around the room, I can't help but think about all the improvements we have made for the suffering aus and whatnot. It does bring a smile to my face thinking that we helped. As I think, Geno pops in, holding Reaper's hand.
"Error!" Reaper shouts as he goes for a hug. Geno hits his head.
"How many times have I said not to do that? Error doesn't want to smell all that dust on you!" Geno complains, as usual.
"Sorry, you must have felt left out, huh? Well, don't mind me then." Reaper says as he hugs Geno as well. Smothering him with love.
I can't help but laugh at their antics. If you haven't guessed, Geno and Reaper are married. Reaper has been trying to bring me into the mix as well, but I always refused. He's too stubborn to listen though and is still trying. Nightmare doesn't like that one bit though and refused to acknowledge his existence. And Geno also doesn't mind if I do join in.
"Are you going there today?" Geno asks, which makes Reaper frown.
"I still don't understand why you're going. I don't even want you to go. Can you not go?" Reaper pleads. I shake my head.
"It's for the best that I do go. Now then, has anyone seen that present?" I ask.
"Yo! My dawg! Looking for this?" Fresh pops in holding the present. He spins it around in circles.
"Yes! Where was it?" I grab the present and say thank you.
"Meh, you left yo dope prez in your room dude."
Suddenly, Horror, Dust, and Killer walk into the room pulling along Cross which Chara is following and snickering at. Wonder what that's about. Dust smiles my way and waves.
"You're heading out now?"
"Yeah, I should get going now, bye." I open a portal into Ink's Light Area. Walking towards it, I close the portal once I spot Dream who is waiting for me there. His smile looks somewhat strained. He speaks, sounding concerned.
"Are you sure this is what you truly want?" He asks.
I can't help but smile, because everyone is trying to discourage me. "Everything is going to be fine."
Dream sighs as he leads me to a cell. He opens the doors and steps aside. "As you wish."
I walk into the cell as the doors behind me shut. I look around, trying to find Ink inside this huge cell. My sights stop on him who is sitting on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He has yet to notice my existence. I shiver a bit. I won't lie in saying I don't completely fear him. But, he deserves a second chance.
"Ink..."
Ink immediately jolts up. He turns to look at me with his white eye-lights. Seems he hasn't taken his vials for a long time. But upon seeing me, his emotions begin to spike up a bit. He smiles. "Hello..."
"How have you been for these thousand years?"
Ink adjusts himself a bit, trying to look presentable. "Why...why are you here?" Despite how he worded it, I can sense he sounded happy. I sigh.
"Didn't you know? Today is your last day. You're being released soon." I walk towards Ink and sit down beside him. I can feel Ink freeze at this, scared to move. I hand him the present. "...Open it."
Ink stares at the box in confusion, but opens it anyways. He jolts from what was inside it. "Isn't this...?" Ink pulls out a soul that is stitched together using my strings. It looks similar to mine, except it isn't dark. "What's it for...and...why?"
I look up at the ceiling and smile softly. "Do you remember what you told me a long time ago? About wishing to have a soul of your very own? Well...Here you go." I chuckle a bit. "...Hope you like it."
"How did you do it? Wouldn't the soul just shatter?" Ink can't help but ask.
"Oh, it was a pain, gathering all of those shattered pieces. But after the 20th year, I realized something special about these pieces. They were your soul. I had asked Reaper to help me track them down so that I could complete them. I had a feeling he could help since he can locate souls anywhere. No matter how broken they were. Then, I had Science help me keep these pieces until I could stitch them together."
"Then can I...?" Ink smiles softly and looks at me as if seeking approval. I smile, and motion for him to go ahead. Ink stares at his soul and pushes it into his chest. Suddenly, he shines a bit and begins to cry. His once dead-like eye-lights gain some gleam to them. Although subtle, I did see it. He pulls me into a hug. And unlike a thousand years ago, this one didn't feel so suffocating. "Thank you..."
I pat his back softly, letting him get a new feel for his emotions. Once a good amount of time passes, I call his name. "It's time to leave, Ink." I hop off the bed and grab Ink's hand. I lead him outside his cell. He stops once he takes a step outside though. I look up at him in confusion as he tightens his hand.
I see him looking at a corner as if to confirm something. Glancing that way, I see the floor littered with knitting balls and drawing books. Seems as if someone forgot to clean after coming to visit Ink.
"...You always visited me...huh?"
I blink at that question and grin softly. I neither confirm nor deny it.
"Let's go home."
