We arrive at home, I can see Rodrigos car already in the driveway, he didn't want to stay behind with me and Aaron to speak with Emilia since he believes she should stay living with her "family". I call bullshit, we are her family and deep down Rodrigo knows it too.
I get into the house and go straight towards my fathers office, I knock twice so he knows i'm coming in. I open the door and see my father, mother and older brothers all inside the office talking.
I walk in and sit next to Noah and Aaron sits on another chair in the room. "Did you speak with our lawyer then?", I ask interrupting my father and Nicholas's conversation. The both look at me angrily but my mother interrupts them with an understanding on her face. "We had some good and bad news darling why don't you tell them since they weren't here", she looks at my father.
I realises why I interrupted him and his eyes soften straight away, "The good news is we will get her back since she is our daughter", he says smiling, "And the bad news?", I ask and his smile drops.
Everyone head snaps towards my father, he clear his throat "well, her adoption to her aunt and before her nana was all legal, and since we are trying to go about this legally it might take some time", he says and I feel my heart drop.
"What no!" I shout
"There has to be a way to get her here sooner", Aaron says, sadness in his voice. My older brothers look down and my mother has tears in her eyes.
"How long will it take doing it legally?", Rodrigo asks. I didn't even know he was in the room.
My father goes to open his mouth but Nicholas speaks instead "Weeks possibly Months".
My mouth dropped open. "The hell not", Aaron shouts while standing up and knocking his chair over. Aaron is the most calm out of all of us apart from my mother so seeing him angry scares us all a little.
"There's nothing we can do unfortunately", my mother says hugging my father.
"What did the lawyer say exactly?", Aaron asks, now calm.
"He said since she was legally adopted after being found, it could take a while since not many judges want to separate a child from her family and it did look like we abandoned her. But since we filed a missing persons report for her we have some backup. So it will take time finding a good judge and also legally everything takes time". My father explains to us all and I see Noah looking off to the distance, which means he's thinking hard, and when Noah thinks hard its almost always a good thing.
"Any loopholes?", Rodrigo asks, I forgot he's here. Bastard
"Unless there is any reason to remove her from their care straight away, I don't think so". Nicholas says.
"We could offer them money for her?", I say and my mother looks at me in shock. "She is a human not an animal who can be bought so remove that thought from your head at once", she says sternly, I gulp. My mother very rarely speaks to us in another tone other than calmness.
