Chapter 11 - Light Switch

I took a deep breath and followed Noah up the steps to the front door of their house. My nerves were going crazy, I could feel my whole body shaking but whether it was in fear or because of excitement I have no clue, I have been here twice before and I didn't feel this nervous neither of those times. So why now.

I need to be careful, sure they were nice to me before but I was their guest then so they had to be nice to me but this time I am living with them so I need to be good and not talk back and do as they say. Because if they do punish like my aunt did then it won't only be my aunt and cousin hurting me but this time it will be 6 grown ass men beating me and that dissent sound fun. 

I reached the last step and then I was through the door, I looked up from my feet and saw everyone there, Marco, Valentina, Nicholas and then of course the other three who I came with were standing either behind or beside me. 

I looked at their faces and they all had bright smiles on them, especially Valentina she looked as if she just won the lottery. Cuz she did 

We all stood there, not saying anything for what seemed like forever until the one and only Rodrigo finally chirped up. "Well this was fun but I've got things to do, see you all at dinner". He said and then quickly bolted for the stairs. 

"Welcome home sweetheart", Marco finally said and then walked over to me holding out his arms, I tilted my head to the side, confused as to why he was approaching me like that but then it clicked, he wanted a hug. Oh I can't hug him, I barely know him. 

I quickly took a small step back and smiled, "Hey its nice to see you again Mr Martinez", I gave a smile wave and immediately hurt and anger washed over his face. Did I day something wrong? Oh god I hope he doesn't hit me. 

I was holding my breath waiting for a slap or something but after a few seconds it never came, instead Marco looked at me confused. "Emilia you can call me Marco but please I cannot have my daughter calling me Mr Martinez", he said sternly. Gulp

I looked at him and nodded, "Im sorry". 

"Oh don't be sorry sweetheart, you were just being polite, how was school you must be tired" Valentina said cheerfully cutting in. I gave her a smile "I had a good day thank you".

"Thats great well Aaron why don't you show her, her room so she can wash up before dinner and do any homework she might have", Valentina said to Aaron and I felt him practically jump with joy beside me. "Okay come on let's go", he said and started running up the stairs like a child. 

I let out a small chuckle and slowly followed him up the stairs, I wouldn't be able to keep up with his speed even if I wanted to let alone do it while hurt. I saw Aaron stop half way up the stairs and look down at me with realisation in his eyes. "Sorry Em I completely forgot about you being hurt", he said giving me a soft smile and was about to turn to go up when someones voice boomed causing me to jump a little. 

"Your injured?, Where? What happened?" Noah and Nicholas questioned at the same time. 

I rubbed my neck and looked down and my feet, "Its nothing I fell down the stairs a few days ago and got a little hurt", I said quietly but everyone seemed to hear me just fine. "Oh sweetheart are you alright? Shall I make an appointment with our doctor?", Valentina asked me but I just shook my head quickly.

"No, no that's alright, it was a few days ago and I am almost completely better", I lied straight ti their faces, and they all seemed to believe me except for Nicholas who was looking at me with an expressionless face. 

Before they could say anything else I looked at Aaron letting him know he can continue up the stairs and he seems to understand because he turned around and started heading up the stairs again with me following behind him.
