I was returning to the Hotel filled with excitement after getting two smartphones similar in features, by picking two different cars to get to the main city and back.
Just at the entrance of the Hotel, my eyes appeared damp and overly bright at the sight of a group of guys getting out of John's car, looking just like Daisy had described them earlier. The other men were four in number. They were all in black shirts and black jeans except John who wore a red shirt but on a black jeans.
I began to tremble insides seeing John leading them into the Hotel. That was when I knew Daisy was in trouble. My heart kept hammering in my chest with every step I took following them close behind.
Surprisingly, there were no sign of any receptionist around and they freely scampered their way towards the stairs.
Oh God! Daisy is in danger.
I knew it and I could feel it, as my heartbeat started to race faster, nearly exploding.
The thought of using the elevator to get there before they did occurred to me, but realized I'll be putting myself also in danger and they might see me.
I used the other stairway on the extreme right. Using that route meant it would take a little longer for me to get there, that's why we mostly avoided it.
Their voices reverberated across the hallway, since it was mostly empty. And moving a little closer to our room, I heard a voice I was familiar with. It wasn't John's voice I was sure of that. John's voice was mostly low and calm. The voice I was hearing sounded heavy, deep and demanding.
"Where did you say you saw the book?" the guy with the deep voice spoke.
"I always see him holding the book whenever I was around. I once overheard them talk about finding some hidden password from the book." John spoke.
Peeping through the window, I could see all five of them in the room, and there was no sign of Daisy. My body shook with fear, as I stood there gulping down my breath to stay quiet.
That was when I remembered whom the man with the deep voice was. It was the red-haired guy; The leader of the men who chased us some months ago.
They know I have the book? They also know there's a password in it? How? I wondered.
And there he stood with them, the traitor, the Judas of our time, John. The only person Daisy and I trusted most had betrayed us.
I saw them searching the room vigorously and in the process, crashing and scattering everything they came into contact with.
Imagine if Daisy was in the room. But where is she now? I thought.
"Did you lie to us?" The leader spoke once again, his voice intense.
"No...No I didn't. I saw them, I've been with them for long and I've been seeing the book around. They even told me about it." John said fighting a rising panic.
"So where is it then?"
"I don't know. Maybe they took it with the..." a heavy slap on his cheeks interrupted him.
"Please...please...don't hurt me. I'll help you find him."
"I promise...please." John cried, as he lay on the floor with blood oozing from his mouth.
"You better find them by tomorrow." the leader said and turned to leave the room.
I quickly run towards the other stairway and stayed there quietly until they were all gone.
Everything in the room was in a muddle when I entered especially my clothes which were scattered all over the room. That was the least of my problems as I continued to search for Daisy everywhere in the room even though I knew it will prove to be futile in the end.
