~BRAVE~ (Tanjiro X Reader)

Season 2- coffee

My eyes shoot open. Something smelt burnt, but I was freezing. My muscles Immediately pumped into action when I heard voices on the other side of the crates I was sleeping next to.

"Fucking idiot, that's why! The map was upside down!" One of the men from earlier said. I peaked over the crates and saw him slap his comrade on the head. He was holding a cup of coffee with one hand while he pinched the bridge of his nose with another.

I inhaled before I decided to make a move. I sprinted quickly while staying low to the ground. It was only a couple of seconds after that made them realize that I was awake. But it was too late for them.

"Oh shi-" I tripped the man with the coffee, spilling it over his chest as he landed on the ground with a thud and a groan. I took his sword out of his hilt and pressed it against his comrade's throat who once had the map.

"Not again." He sighed. Placing both of his hands in the air in defeat.

I shook my head in almost amusement while keeping an eye on his friend on the floor. "Yeah, that's right fucker. Again. Now, who are you?"

"Calm down girl, we really didn't want to hurt you but you were so defensive we had no choice but to." The man on the floor said. He hadn't even bothered to get up.

"That's not an answer to my question."

"What. Did you want to be our friend or something? Did you want to hold our hands while we skipped through fields like idiots?" The cornered man spat out sarcastically.

"I'm pretty sure you're the only idiot here."

"Shut up-"

"My name is Ryker and that boy's name is Tashiro. We work for someone named Mirai. Ring a bell?" The man's arms crossed over his chest as he sat up from the floor. He obviously looked aggravated.

My eyes switched between Rykers and Tashiro's. I sighed and shook my head. "No."

Finally deeming that these men were no threat, I tossed the sword to Ryker. He groaned as he staggered upward. "Who the hell trained you anyway? A beast?"

I looked up to the stars in the sky and laughed internally. "I guess you can say that." I said, thinking of how Inosuke helped me invent most of the moves I had in my arsenal today.

The men exchanged glances with each other. Then a crow flew up ahead.

"I think it's time we started moving again." Tashiro said. Folding up the map in his hands and stuffed it in his breast pocket.

"Uhm. No. I'm not going with you." I look to my waist and take notice of my lack of a sword. I thought back and realized how I hadn't taken it with my when I went to the market.

Ryker laughed. "Do you want me to knock you out again?" His hand fell on top of my head while he patted it. "You're not easy but it's possible." He said threatenly

"Who is this Ryker person you work for?" I questioned, moving his hand from my head in disgust.

"The questions you ask now will only lead to more questions later."

I sighed. "That's not an answer to my question." Getting up, I took a look around my surrounding once more before I began to slowly back away. I held Rykers sword up to them in a strong stance. "Come at me then." I urged them.

The men looked between each other in discomfort before Tashiro unsheathed his sword. He looked like he was done with everything. He seemed as if he didn't want to be there and that his pay wasn't enough to cover what he was doing.

Neither of us made the first move.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, water pushes the men away from me. They splashed into the wall and groan in pain.

"For fucks sake!" I hear Ryker yell.

"Second form...Water wheel." The man jumped down from the top of a building and looked around harshly.

Our eyes met and it seemed as if they were almost full of tears.

Relief spread through Tanjiro's features as he scooped me up and over his shoulder. His hand on the small of my back to keep me balanced.

"Tanjiro?!" I questioned loudly.

He cried out to me. "(Y/n)! Are you ok?! I found your haori on the ground and those guys...." His voice weekend at the thought of them.

I managed to jump off of his shoulder and took his face in my hands.

I looked into them lovingly and I gave him a hug. Tears spilled over my eyes.

"I was scared Tanjiro. Thank you!"
