My breathing changed as I awoke for another morning. I opened my eyes to look over at the boys on the ground to see if they were sleeping. Fortunately for me, they were. I rolled over and dozed off again. Hoping that I wouldn't wake up randomly anymore.Tanjiro had seen my actions. While the two other boys were to my right, Tanjiro was on my left. Nezuko had fallen asleep at Zenitu's feet. He had noticed his sister's strange attraction to him. The burgundy-haired boy sighed in satisfaction as he played with the tips of my hair.
It had only been a week since Inosuke turned back to normal. Ever since then, he had been way calmer with me. He had been helping me with some of my sword training. But Inosuke wasn't great at teaching. Whenever I was with Tanjiro, it was always distracting. By the end of it, we turn up as a pair of blushing messes. With Zenitsu, It was a little more helpful. He was not scared of his sword unlike he was with everything else.
"So does your ability work with people too?" He had asked me before.
"They would have to be willing to give up that information. Unlike demons, they're aren't alive anymore so what's the harm in having it?" I shrugged, rolling my shoulders from the number of slashes I've done with the sword. The fall air gave me chills as I stretched.
Training with Zenitus was informative. We learned new things about each other almost on a personal level. He was great at instructing good posture and had good eyes for noticing the smallest of changes. Training with Tanjiro was soft and sweet. Most of the time we end up talking while we are in stances. Other times he would be forcing me to do more upper body work. You know, push-ups and such.
Training with Inosuke was more helpful but more painful. He wasn't afraid to hurt me which was what made me want to hurt him. He was too forward and quick to make decisions and told me not to worry about posture as long as I got the job done. It was not what I wanted, but what I needed.
The way the three of them trained was so foreign to me. Diakoku had taught me with only a few words of instruction and left it at that. I had always been the one to train alone. By the time Diakoku had no things to teach me about his own training, he realized that the stories he told me of his day, I was putting to practice.
He hadn't know that I was training alongside him all along until we joined the corps together.
He was surprised, to say the least. He didn't expect me to follow him with training much less do it in general. He always thought that I would grow up to be one of the more graceful ladies in town.
In a way, I was. I studied the actions of others to choose the words I would say. That was most definitely a great skill to have. Especially towards people who thought little of you.
Tanjiro got his day started while I was sleeping. Dreaming about things that were always out of my grasp.
He tugged his haori on before crouching down and gently blowing at my face. It was truly a kind way to wake someone up. For some odd reason, he never had morning breath.
My eyes squinted before adjusting to the familiar handsome face of the boy I grew to have feelings for. He gave me a closed eye smile. "Good morning (Y/n)." He spoke in a whisper. The others weren't up yet so he needed to speak in a hushed voice.
"You're too bright Tanjiro. It's hard to look at you." I spoke as I closed my eyes once more.
Tanjiro laughed quietly and cleared his throat. "Sorry..?" He lent me a hand to help me stand.
I dusted off the dirt on my body from sleeping. I was thankful it hadn't rained last night.
"KAWWW KAWWW K-" The loud and annoying sound of a familiar crow startled me into jumping.
"Shut the hell up!" Inosuke ripped grass from the ground and threw it at the crow, in hopes of its silence. Once the grass hit its apex, it floated down. It didn't reach its target. If Inosuke was up, the yellow-haired boy was bound to be as well.
Sure enough, I was right. He clung onto my leg as we all began walking towards Shinobu's estate. Inosuke kept on jumping up and trying to grab the poor crow as it flew over our heads. It was making loud noises on purpose. Playing games with the boar.
Tanjiro and I looked at each other before we burst out laughing. But we stopped due to another obnoxious sound. Zenitsu had cried out not to complain, but because he was in pain. I had accidentally kicked him in the face while walking and I hadn't even realized it.
"It's your own fault for clinging onto me in the first place. You should know better! You're not a child." I scoffed and tugged my leg away from his grip. His arms fell to the ground with a 'thud' and then he balled them up in anger.
"I still deserve an apology! People don't just randomly kick someone in the face and then not say sorry unless they meant to kick!" He stormed past Tanjiro and I and stopped in front of me, preventing me from moving any further.
"What if I meant to kick?" I argued back. With each step I took, Zenitsu backed up. "Maybe if you were more mature and acted your age, you wouldn't be accidentally kicked in the face." I poked at his chest.
"(Y/n) c'mon you don't have to be-" Tanjiro reached out his hand to grab onto my shoulder.
