Song: Between Worlds by Roger Subirana
~
You watched as the ball flew up out of Kuroko's hand. The tension was thick in the air as everyone held silent. Afraid to move or even breathe at the moment. It seemed as if time itself froze in its tracks. The only thing moving was the ball.Swish.
The buzzer sounded loudly and not a second later, the crowd erupted into cheers of joy. The game was over. The game he trained so hard for. Pushed himself beyond his boundaries for. Spent every second of free time practicing for, was over. And he lost it all. Your eyes landed on your blonde boyfriend as he bid Kagami and Kuroko farewell. As he walked off the court, you noticed the limp in his leg. And when Kasamatsu went over to support him, you saw the tears flow out of his golden eyes. Seeing those tears shattered your heart and brought you to tears, yourself.
Hurriedly, you made your way out of your seat and headed for the stairs. Pushing past people as quickly but politely as you could, skipping steps on your way down, apologizing to people you bumped into. You had to get to him. You had to. You couldn't let him beat himself up. You had to be there for him. Just as he was always there for you. Always being there to make you smile, to wipe your tears, to make you laugh. And now, it was your turn to make sure he felt better. Even if it took you forever, you wanted, needed, to be the one.
When you finally were able to get into their locker room, you found Kise sitting on the bench in the corner with his head in the palm of his hands. His shoulders shook and you heard a slight sob escape him. Walking up, you place your hand on his back and rub your delicate fingers back and forth in a comforting manner.
He jumps then turns to look at you. His eyes are puffy and red from crying and his face is streaked, and nose running. "_______cchi," he said your name softly, "I... I failed." More tears streamed down his face as he began to cry harder. "I failed my seniors! I wanted to win so badly for their sake! But... But we lost."
You sat down and brought him into a tight hug, running your hands through his hair and down his back, "You didn't fail. You gave them the best game they could ever play. I'm sure Kasamatau and the others don't blame you. I'm sure that they are proud of you. I am proud of you. You should be proud of you. You were amazing today." You pushed him back and looked him in the eyes, "It hurts like hell, yes. Losing something you love and worked so hard for always hurts like hell. And that's not a bad thing at all. But, Ryouta, I promise you that it's going to be okay." You brought him back in and kissed the top of his head lightly. "It's going to be okay."
The two of you sat there in each others arm. Him bawling his eyes out and you letting a few silent tears fall from your eyes.
It will all be okay. Maybe not now, maybe not tomorrow or next week or even month or year. But, eventually, it will all be okay.

Okay, I wanted to cry while writing this. For some reason writing while listening to music just draws something out of me.Conact:
