The storm raged on outside your window, rain pelting against it hard enough to make it seem like it and the wind would shatter it to pieces. Lightning flashed, illuminating the dark room followed by a long, loud clap of thunder. Your tiny eyes were wide with fear as you watched from your bed, your bed sheets pulled all the way up to your little nose. Your heart beat fast, pounding in your ears.

Finally mustering up the courage you needed your jumped out of bed and ran out of your room. Down the hall and into your parent's room, your little feet carried you. You pushed open the door and ran over to your father's side of the bed.

"Daddy! Daddy!"

Rin rolled over and opened his eyes, "_______, what's wrong?"

"Daddy," you sniffed, "there are monsters outside!"

He noticed the tears in your eyes and he frowned. He didn't like those tears in your eyes. He reached over and wiped them away before lifting you up into bed with him. "Come here, little one."

You wrapped your arms around his neck and buried your face in the crook of it.

"Listen, there are no monsters outside. It's just a thunderstorm."

You looked him in the eyes, "No monsters?"

He smiled, "No monsters."

"You promise?"

"I promise."

Another clap of thunder resonated throughout the room, shaking the windows. You jumped at the sound and buried your face once more.

Rin rubbed your back with one hand while the other held your head. "Hey," he made you look at his face once more, "you can stay with me for the night, okay?"

You nodded, "Okay."

"Just lay on my chest and listen to my heartbeat, okay?"

You nodded once more, resting your head on his chest. You smiled softly at the sound of his heart.

Bu-bump. Bu-bump. Bu-bump.

Your eye lids drooped and soon you were fast asleep.

Rin watched you fall asleep in his arms, a smile placed on his face.
