Natsu x Reader

Warning! ⚠ spoilers for those who aren't that far into the show. You have been warned.

You sat in the back corner of a coffee shop, staring into your drink. It wasn't that long ago, however, you would have been sitting at the guild hall waiting for him rather than in some coffee shop. You probably wouldn't even be waiting at the guild hall. You'd probably be off on a mission together. Or taking a nap, or eating, or anything but waiting around.
But here you were, waiting for him to return at a coffee shop.
You got over the pain of his absence months ago but it still lingered in the far back corner of your brain.
"What do you mean you're leaving and won't take me with you?" You shouted at him, "Natsu, that's completely ridiculous. Quit joking around."
"I'm not joking around _______. I'm being completely serious," he said, not looking up from the bag he was packing.
"But why won't you take me with you?"
He stayed silent. To be honest, he couldn't give a solid reason as to why. He just knew that taking you with him wouldn't be the best idea.
"I'll be back in a year, _______." He stood up, slung his bag over his shoulder, placed one final kiss on your forehead and walked out the door with Happy flying silently behind him.
The next day, the guild was disbanded and you found yourself completely alone. Finding a job was harder than you thought. Hardly anyone would accept wizard work unless you were with a guild. And it didn't take long for people to hear about Fairy Tails disbanding.
~Time Skip~
It was the final day of the games and you sat in the stands, remembering back to last year's game.
A year ago.
When the match was over, unknown fire and heat swept over the stadium. Almost everything around you started melting.
You looked back down to the arena and your jaw dropped. Standing in the center, looking as goofy as ever, was Natsu. His hair had grown longer and you could tell he was stronger, not just by the amount of damage he had done without lifting a finger, but his magic presence was stronger as well.
Tears came to your eyes along with a smile. He was back.
~Time skip~
You had found Lucy and went back to her place with Natsu. He hadn't said a word to you yet. Him being the idiot he was, probably didn't recognize you. You had just recently cut your hair short and decided to finally get glasses.
While Lucy was off in the other room, you kept glancing at Natsu. Finally, he looked over at you and smiled.
"Hey, _______! Long time." He leaned over and placed a kiss on your lips, "I've missed you."
You smiled and tears ran down your face again, "You idiot! I've missed you too!" You threw your arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. "Welcome home."
