He knew something was wrong. He always knew. When something was different or off, he just knew. When you walked in the classroom this morning, he could see the redness of your eyes. He could see your smile falter ever so slightly and disappear when no one was looking. Your laugh was forced, not as joyous as it normally was.
"Yo."
Kenma's attention was turned to his best friend.
"You okay?" He asked, sitting himself backwards in the chair in front of Kenma.
He shrugged, "What's wrong with _______?"
Kuroo looked over at you and sighed, "So, you noticed, too, huh?"
He nodded.
"It's not my place to tell you. If she wants to talk to you about it, she will."
Kenma folded his arms over his desk and rested his head on top of them.
He wanted to reach out and pull you along with him to somewhere secluded. He wanted to hold you and keep you for himself. He wanted to hear everything about you. Most of all, he wanted to know why you told Kuroo what was wrong and not him. Wasn't he, like Kuroo, your best friend.
Walking along side you after school, he took note on how slow your pace was. Your head hung low, like you were ashamed to be there. Gathering together all pieces of courage in his body, he reached out with his hand and took yours. Through his hand, he could feel you tense up then gradually relax. He looked over at you and noticed a few tears running down your cheek. Doing what Kuroo had once done for you, he stopped and pulled you into a hug.
Once you calmed down and the tears stopped, you wrapped your arms around him. "Thank you, Kenma. I really needed a hug."
He nodded and kept his arms around you. He finally had done it and he wanted to make the moment last a little longer. "Will you tell me what's wrong?"
He waited for your response, but never received one.
"Please, tell me what's wrong."
"Why do you care if I don't tell you?"
"Because I love you."
