She's sitting at the table, the hours get later
He was supposed to be here
She's sure he would've called
She waits a little longer, there's no one in the driveway
No one's said they've seen him
Why, is something wrong?
She looks back to the window
Suddenly the phone rings
A voice says something's happened
That she should come right now
Her mind goes to December
She thinks of when he asked her
He bent down on his knee first
And he said
Dinner was getting cold and you were growing slightly worried. Yukio was never late. Another glance at the clock causes your worry to grow once more. You let out a sigh as your head turns to the window that overlooked the currently empty driveway. The phone sends a shrill call through the room and you get up from the table to answer it.
"Miss. _______?"
"Yes?"
"This is the local hospital. You need to come. Something has happened to Mr. Okumura."
You nearly drop the phone as you give a breathy answer, "I'm on my way."
As you run out the door, jacket and keys in hand, your mind wandered back to the day just only months ago.
The cold December air brushed against your skin as you stand over a bridge, overlooking the half frozen river below.
"You know, _______, I'm really lucky," Yukio said with his beautiful smile.
Your already reddened face grows slightly redder as a smile forms on your lips, "Awe, Yukio, you know-"
"I'm not done." He dropped to his knee and pulls out a box, "_______,"
I want you forever, forever and always
Through the good and the bad and the ugly
We'll grow old together
Forever and always
You throw the car in park, get out and run inside.
"May I help you?" The receptionist asks.
"Yes, I'm hear for a Yukio Okumura. Can you tell me where he is?" You ask, fighting tears.
She nods and calls over a nurse. The nurse gives you a sad smile and leads you down the never ending halls. Turn after turn you follow as she tells you what happened.
You do everything in your will not to cry. You can't cry. You don't want to cry.
Reaching his room, you slide the door open and find him laying there, bandaged and hooked to machines.
"Yukio!" You rush to his side and grab his hand.
She pulls up to the entrance
She walks right to the front desk
They lead her down a million halls, a maze that's never ending
They talk about what happened but she can barely hear them
Yukio looks up at you and gives you a soft smile, "Hey, baby."
Tears begin to well but you wipe them away quickly, hoping he wouldn't see them.
"Once I'm out of this place, we can start our search for that house you always wanted."
You nod and talk about the house you would eventually live in. And the kids. The future. She tries to keep a straight face as she walks into the room
She sits by his bedside, holds his hand too tight
They talk about the kids they're gonna have and the good life
The house on the hillside, where they would stay
Stay there forever, forever and always
Through the good and the bad and the ugly
We'll grow old together, and always remember
Whether rich or for poor or for better
We'll still love each other, forever and always
You squeez his hand and looked up at the nurse. "May I request something?"
The nurse nodded, "Yes, of course."
You get up and whisper in her ear. She nods and leaves the room.
"What was that about?" Yukio asks.
You just give him a smile, "You'll see, my love."
He gives you a weak smile.
Then she gets an idea and calls in the nurses
Brings up the chaplain and he says a couple verses
She borrows some rings from the couple next door
Everybody's laughing as the tears fall on the floor
She looks into his eyes, and she says
Once the nurse is back, followed by a chaplain and a couple from the hall. The couple hands you wedding rings with sad smiles on their faces.
You turns to Yukio and hold his hand, both of you smiling at each other, as the chaplain says a few verses.
"Yukio," you said,
I want you forever, forever and always
Through the good and the bad and the ugly
We'll grow old together, and always remember
Whether happy or sad or whatever
We'll still love each other, forever and always
Forever and always, forever and always
The beeps on the monitor were getting gradually slower.
His smile, though, hasn't faltered. His eyes still locked on yours, smiling sweetly as tears of happiness fell from both your eyes.
His vows follow yours as the beeps continue to grow slower.
"I love you forever, forever and always. Please just remember even if I'm not there, I'll always love you, forever and always."
You nodded, "I love you, Yukio."
She finishes the vows but the beeps are getting too slow
His voice is almost too low
As he says, "I love you forever, forever and always
Please just remember even if I'm not there
I'll always love you, forever and always."~
I'm back!
