It was a quiet afternoon at Sonic's house. He was working on his homework in his room while Shadow was somewhere else in the house, doing chores.
The blue hedgehog got tired and decided to put his pen down for a quick break. As he checked his phone, he was surprised to have three missed calls from his mom. He put his phone on silent earlier to not distract him from his work. He quickly called back and his mom picked up almost immediately.
"Mom, you could've called Shadow, I was doing my homework" Sonic grumbled.
"I know but I wanted to tell you this myself" she giggled through the phone.
Sonic sighed and leaned back, "okay, what is it?"
"You're free tonight, right? Because I want you to come home for a while to meet a special guest your dad and I invited"
Sonic raised his brow in confusion as he stared at the floor, "special guest?"
"Just come home before 7, see you!"
"Wh- mom wait!"
She hung up without elaborating any details to Sonic which made him feel anxious. He didn't know what to expect because most of their guests were special to his parents, so what's so different about this one?
He got up and exit his room to go look for Shadow to tell him about the news. His bodyguard would have to drive him back home, thankfully it's not very far from his college.
That night, Shadow drove Sonic back. He noticed his master looking very tired, he kept staring out the window as if he wanted to go back to the college rather than going home.
"Shouldn't you be excited to see your parents again?" The bodyguard asked.
"I should...but I just have this sudden bad feeling about the guest that my parents invited over" Sonic sighed and leaned his head back on his seat.
"Maybe it's your far cousin or grandmother?"
"I highly doubt it" he rolled his eyes and folded his arms.
The two finally made it to Sonic's parents' house. Shadow stepped out of the car first to open the door for his master. They both approached the front door, once they went inside they saw Sonic's parents on the sofa already waiting for their child.
"Sonic! Finally, you made it" his mom got up and gave him a hug. Sonic smiled tiringly and hugged back.
"Hey, mom"
"Come, take a seat" his dad called, "our special is guests are arriving soon"
Sonic nodded and went to sit on the empty spot of the sofa. Shadow decided to stood near the wall and put his hands behind his back.
Sonic was pretty nervous and anxious, he kept having this really bad feeling and he had the urge to just escape the house and hide somewhere. He flinched when his mom decided to sit next to him with her arm around his shoulder.
"Okay, so...let me just spoil the surprise so you won't feel very awkward with our guests" she said softly, but that didn't help Sonic to calm down.
"Wh...what?"
"Your dad and I were finally able to find the perfect match for you, your future husband if you will" she smiled but Sonic's eyes widen in fear.
"Huh?"
"Yep. His family and us have been in a great relationship with the business lately, their son is quite handsome too so I'm pretty sure you'd love to get to know him!"
Sonic stood up quickly from the sofa and stared at his parents angrily, it caught Shadow's attention.
"Why didn't you two discuss this with me beforehand?! I never even agreed on this!"
