The Master's Problems

Chapter 21 - Making Sense

Sonic and Mephiles were hanging out Sonic's living room and they managed to get in line with their parents that same night after they had their conversation with Scourge. Sonic called for his parents first and then Mephiles proceeded to call his parents after that. They somehow got their approval to have a gathering and they were expected to come at nine in the morning.

"Do you want me to come pick you up tomorrow?" Mephiles asked.

"Yeah sure, we can go to my parents' house together" Sonic smiled at the offer.

"Are you sure we're fully prepared for this, master?" Shadow asked worryingly.

"I have confidence that we are" Sonic stood up from the couch and grabbed Shadow's hands, "I know my parents love me and want the best for my future...but I'm sure they will understand that I don't want to be tied together with my own friend for the rest of my life" he smiled.

"They didn't even take you seriously when you two were against the marriage in the first place...are you two really sure?" Silver questioned.

"We just have to put the trust in ourselves, Silver...how else are we going to settle this without at least trying to convince them?"

"Running away..." the maid mumbled.

"That will happen if things get really bad between our parents" Sonic sighed.

"Let's hope for the best, alright?" Mephiles smiled and also got up from the couch, "now it's time for us to rest and prepare our mental state for tomorrow, come on Silver"

"Ah- yes master" Silver followed him from behind.

"I'll see you tomorrow Sonic, make sure to rest well" Mephiles said before he left with his servant.

The blue hedgehog sighed and went to lock the front door. He turn his head around and stare at his bodyguard.

"Is there something you need?" Shadow asked.

"Will you...sleep with me again tonight? Just in case things don't turn out well...at least we could sleep together for the last time" he said with a sad smile.

"Master, don't say that" the bodyguard approached him, "like you said...we need to have confidence. I'm sure we can get through this together" he grabbed his hands.

Sonic blushed and nodded his head. He moved closer and gave his servant a kiss on the cheek. The sudden action made Shadow blush and made Sonic chuckle.

"Let's go to bed now" he said and Shadow nodded.

The next morning, Sonic was waiting for Mephiles to come pick him up. While he was still waiting, Scourge came up to check on him and he was with him at the living room.

"I'm still coming with you, right?" Scourge asked.

"We figured that it's best to not involve you anymore, this is between me, Mephiles, and our parents" Sonic stated.

"But I thought we agreed that I should come too and help back you up with the reasons and stuff! I don't want you guys to be miserable" Scourge said worryingly as he out a hand on Sonic's shoulder.

"We really appreciate the help, Scourge. Mephiles and I just thought that our parents might not be too happy if someone else interrupt our family issues..." Sonic sighed and stared down.

Scourge frowned, he really thought that they would continue with their first plan. He knew that decision of leaving him out of the problem might be better but he still wanted to help.

"Master Mephiles has arrived" Shadow said from the door.

"Alright," Sonic got up and so did Scourge, "I'm leaving now. I'll tell you everything when it's over" he pat Scourge's shoulder.
