The Master's Problems

Chapter 11 - Serious Case

Sonic and Scourge made it to the campus for another major in their college. They exit the car and went inside a loft cafe, they still continued to hide away from their servants. They sat down on one of the empty seats with the table facing the window, so they both sat next to each other.

"You sure they won't find us here?" Sonic asked.

"Oh I come here all the time and never once did my bodyguard find me" Scourge chuckled.

They only ordered one drink to share since they didn't really feel like having anything at that moment. They were only there to buy some time while figuring out a way to exit the college.

"Hey, I'm just curious..." Scourge started, "when you said to me in the car that being with your servant only hurts you, what did you mean by that?"

Sonic's eyes widen at the question, he looked away and sighed.

"You might think weird of me but...I used to have a huge crush on him..."

"What?" Scourge asked in shock, "you know it's not possible for you to date your own servant, right?" He whispered.

"I know...but I still stupidly hoped for him to return my feelings" Sonic chuckled. "Though, I'm over it now. I won't expect Shadow to love me anymore..."

Scourge pat his back and smiled softly at him, "I'm glad you're able to move on"

Sonic smiled back and nodded. He had a sudden idea, an embarrassing one, he didn't know if he should do it but he really wanted to. He closed his eyes and quickly gave Scourge a peck on the muzzle. It startled the other and made him froze in his seat.

"That- that's a thanks from me for taking my mind off of these problems that tortured my mind" Sonic looked away and mumbled shyly.

Scourge was still in shock and he was blushing from the sudden action. He couldn't even move his mouth.

"Your personality is just so fun to be around with, I never had anyone like that beside me" Sonic mumbled once again while not looking at the other.

"Sonic, that- I don't even know what to say" Scourge chuckled nervously, "you're so cute" he smiled and returned the quick kiss, making Sonic giggle.

Meanwhile, Shadow was still very frustrated at finding his master. He was panicking and didn't know where else to look, he had searched every where around the campus and housing but Sonic was no where to be seen. He started having this bad thoughts of what Scourge might do to his master, he was scared and didn't know what to do. He felt like a terrible bodyguard, he was supposed to keep his master safe.

He decided to look for Silver, maybe the maid had seen him pass by somewhere. He saw Mephiles talking with some friends just outside the library, he immediately spotted Silver not too far behind his master.

"Silver" he called as he approached him.

"Hm? Hey, where's your master?" The maid asked curiosly.

"I was about to ask you that...have you seen him?"

Silver stared at him in disbelief, he took a moment to take a deep breath before exhaling the air. He gazed angrily at the dark hedgehog and put his hands on his hips.

"You are such a terrible bodyguard!"

Shadow looked embarrassed as if he just got yelled at by a mother.

"Sorry...but this is the only time I have ever lost sight of him so-"

"That still doesn't sound nice! You should never EVER take your eyes off of your master" Silver complained.

"Look, I don't have time to argue about this, have you seen him or not?" Shadow sighed.

"Unfortunately I have not seen him" the maid crossed his arms.

The bodyguard felt more anxious after Silver told him that, he really messed his job up.

"I see, sorry to bother you" he nodded and turned himself around.

"Wait, if it's really that bad I can go help look for him" Silver stopped him as he placed his hand on the other's shoulder.

"You don't have to trouble yourself for me, Silver" Shadow turned around, "besides, you need to stay with your master"

"Don't you remember your master and my master are friends?" The maid chuckled and approached Mephiles.

Shadow watched as Silver interrupted his master from talking with the others, as soon as the maid explained the things Shadow told him to his master he actually looked quite shocked. Mephiles excused himself from his friend group and went to Shadow.

"Is it true? You lost Sonic?"

Shadow hated to admit it, but he nodded.

"How did that even happen? Don't you always watch him even from afar?"

"I was watching him, he was hanging out with his new friend" the bodyguard sighed and looked down, "but I didn't expect his friend to pull him away from me, my master didn't seem to fight it either"

"He was WILLING to get out of your sight?" Silver questioned in shock.

"Seems like it, he would've yelled for help if he was being taken somewhere he didn't want to...or in other word, kidnapped"

Mephiles didn't even know how to respond, he recalled that Sonic wanted to move on from having a crush on his bodyguard and abandon his feelings but he didn't expect for him to also abandon Shadow.

"Do you know who his friend is?" Mephiles asked.

"If I remember it correctly, he's a green hedgehog named Scourge"

"Oh, that's someone from our class" Mephiles said in surprise, "I'm not really close with him though, so I don't know much about how he acts and who his servant is..."

"I can help with that" Silver smiled and started using his tablet.

The pale hedgehog stared at him confusingly, "you have a data for the students here?"

"No, but for servants I do"

It didn't take long for Silver to look up on his tablet, he smiled and showed the screen over to the other two.

"Scourge has a bodyguard, his name is Fleetway. Apparently he is pretty strict with following a set of rules from Scourge's parents and that's what make Scourge loves to run away. I might be wrong but it seems like he took your master for that reason too"

Shadow was still staring at the picture of the bodyguard, he suddenly had a realization and stare upsettingly at Silver.

"You mean...my master agreed to run away with Scourge because I annoy him with strict rules?"

"What?" Silver raised a brow, "you...after all this time you think THAT is what made your master want to run away with someone?" He asked and Shadow nodded.

The bodyguard was confused as to why Silver started glaring at him.

"Anyway...we need to try and contact Fleetway first" Mephiles returned the tablet back to his maid, "he always deal with his master running away from him, he might know where to find them"
