The Master's Problems

Chapter 13 - See Through The Act

Shadow caught up to Sonic who went back to the house. He followed his master until he reached his bedroom, Sonic sat down on the bed and took his phone out.

"Master..." Shadow frowned, "are you really going to replace me?" He asked as he stood by the door.

Sonic stared at his bodyguard, his expression showed a mix of sadness and stress. He put his hands down and groaned.

"Shadow, I'm tired. Leave me alone" he facepalmed, "I will tell mom about this tomorrow"

"You really don't want to consider your decision?"

"I'm tired! I don't want to keep blaming you so just leave me alone already!" He snapped.

The dark hedgehog was startled, he sighed and stared down, "understood...but, I just want you to know that..." he mumbled while slowly closing the door, "even if I seem clueless or dense to your true feelings, please know that my feelings to protect and keep you safe have always been genuine"

Sonic stared at him blankly.

"I care so much about you, if I am replaced I would never have the same feeling to a new master...you're special to me" Shadow gazed at his master one last time, "I love you" he said before closing the door.

Sonic was left speechless. He held his chest and facepalmed. What was he supposed to do about that? Even if he said 'I love you' back, Shadow still wouldn't want to date him for the obvious reason. He hated the feeling, how could he be so in love with a mobian like his bodyguard?

The next day, it was weekend so they were off from college. Silver was preparing a tea for his master who was busy having scheduled morning meeting. The maid entered the bedroom where he could find Mephiles sitting on his chair, facing the camera of his laptop where he had his online meeting. The maid carefully put the tea cup on the side of the desk before leaving the room. He closed the door and groaned.

"Why can't I stop thinking about how Shadow's doing?" He sighed.

After talking to the bodyguards last night, he was concerned about Shadow. As a mobian who fell in love, he noticed in an instant that Sonic might have taken an interest on his friend Scourge. If Shadow were to interrupt and finally told Sonic his true feelings, how would he react? More importantly, how would Shadow deliver the line?

He cared for his fellow servant, he would very much like to see Shadow and Sonic be happy together. He knew he's not supposed to be involved too much with their relationship, but he's gotten so curious with them. Especially if they did end up being together, couldn't Silver and Mephiles do the same?

The maid slapped himself on the face and immediately went back to the kitchen to put the tray away. He shouldn't expect much, his master was close with someone else at the moment and he's not supposed to ruin their relationship.

"Ah, darn it! Stupid brain, stop thinking!"

Silver slapped himself on the face once more. He took a deep breath and exhaled the air slowly, he did it repeatedly until he calmed down. He decided to do some chores to distract himself from thinking about his master's relationship.

As time went on, the maid didn't even notice his master walking down the stairs. He seemed to be in a phone call with someone.

"Yes, Mary, I know. It's kind of troubling but we're gonna have to deal with it" Mephiles chuckled.

Silver's heart started aching. He's on the phone with the girl he didn't approve of to be Mephiles' lover.

"Seriously, master? She couldn't even finish her part of homework that day. Why even be close with her if she's just going to weight you? I could help you with your work much better than her. You should just leave her, she's no good for you. You deserve someone much better than her. You need someone who can truly support you. You are just going to waste your precious time on her. What do you see in her anyway? Are you blinded by her looks? Her personality? The way she talks to you? None of that matters if she still won't be any help for you. She's useless. She-" Silver thought to himself before he snapped back into reality when Mephiles pat his shoulder from behind.
