Epilogue part 1.

16 years later.

"Appa~"

I straighten my suit and climb down the stairs. Ye-Jin is in her school uniform, her log hair tied in a ponytail. She smiles brightly up at me, her eyes close in crescent moons when she does.

She jogs my way and greets me with a hug.

"Did you sleep well?"

"I did. How did you sleep?" I ask, feigning ignorance.

"Mmm...I don't know. I didn't sleep that well."

"The party was nice?" I ask, sipping my coffee, holding back the smile itching to appear on my face.

"W-what party?" She stutters nervously and fidgets with her fingers.

"Your uncle told me Dal had gone to a party he didn't approve of...I went to check your room." Ye-Jin seems defeated and sighs, looking down.

"I know you're okay with me going to parties, I shouldn't have lied to you...
But that party was going to last very long and I didn't want to have a curfew...
I'm sorry, appa...
But I behaved right." She tries to smile and I give her a knowing look.

"Don't let it happen again if you don't want to have a real curfew." She jumps from her seat and plants a kiss on my cheek, excited and grateful.

"Thank you!" She chants happily. "By the way..." she becomes serious again. "I've been meaning to ask you..."

I tilt my head and put my cup back on the table to grant her all my attention.

"What is it?" She nervously taps her fingers in the counter, nibbling on her lower lip.
Apart from her eyes, she looks so much like her mother...
It's a real torture sometimes.

"I've been giving it a lot of thoughts...and I know you probably won't approve of it..." she can't seem to manage to ask so I try to think to meet her half way.

"New boyfriend?" I try and she shakes her head simply.

"No..." she lifts her eyes and meets mine. "I want to...em...I want to train for the exam for the Korean National Police University."

My heart stops for a second when the words leave her mouth, and my own mouth goes dry. My mind is blank.

"What?" I wanted my voice to sound firm but it calmed out as a whisper.
