Some battles are fought alone
Across the torrid faces of stone
With thorns to cut through the bone.
Into the deserts of intrigue
With eyes that deny to weep
And a heart that refuses to accept defeat.

A horrid land of doubt
Slicing through the confidence and clout
Undermines your best
Across the channels of success.
Just when you think you'll crash and burn
Steer the rudder from the stern
Move toward the sun.

Navigate the journey unconcerned
Cold, numb, lost and unperturbed
There's nothing else on the floor
I'll take the next step and another and another
To stop the falter in my breath
Until I learn to trust myself
And do what is right.
