Two weeks later
I sat in the tent that we had found a few weeks back and marked off another day that had gone by.
The tent flap moved as the heavy rain drops fell and the wind blew. The water sprayed my face and I sighed.
It had been raining ever since the day that the group had gotten split.
I heard a clap of thunder and the rain came down even harder. Getting up off of the floor, I leaned my head out and called for Beth and Carl.
They were out and looking for berries and if they could catch it, meat.
A little while later, I heard the sound of boots slapping against the mud. Beth and Carl emerged from the trees.
"What took you guys so long?" I asked. They had been gone for hours and I was worried sick.
Carl wrapped his arms around me and Beth took my hand as they laughed.
"What's so funny?" I asked, slightly annoyed.
Beth spoke, "We were trying to see how long we could be out there before you got worried."
I smacked Beth's hand and removed myself from Carl's embrace.
"C'mon, Joce. It was a joke."
I turned back to the tent and said, "Screw you."
Carl followed behind me and Beth went across the area to where her tent was pitched.
I picked up the can of peaches that I had been snacking on while they were gone and sat in its place.
Carl sat next to me and I offered him the rest of them and he gladly accepted. He picked up the fork and without putting anything in his mouth, put the fork back down.
"Are you not going to eat it? I can go give them to Be-"
Before I could finish, Carl pressed his lips to mine.
As we separated, Carl spoke, "Mm. Peaches."
I laughed and he picked up the can of fruit.
"So did you guys find anything?" I asked.
He shook his head and I sighed.
We never seemed to find anything. It's like all the squirrels and deer vanished after the first walker showed up.
We heard another clap of thunder and I jumped.
My boyfriend placed his arm around me and pulled me closer to him. Soon, we were engulfed in darkness and there was nothing to do.
Carl and I decided to spend some of that time play truth or dare.
"Uh, dare," I said.
He smirked, "I dare you to kiss me."
I groaned, "That's been your dare for the past five turns."
He shrugged, "You still have to do it."
I leaned over and kissed him on the cheek and rolled over on my side, "I'm tired."
He nodded and lay down next to me.
////
I was awoken by the pulling of my hair.
"Get your asses up." a man yelled
My hand went to my head as the man pulled me to my feet.
"Aw, look. This one's a boy."
The person that was holding me turned and yanked me with them.
