Dawn watched the sun set through the windows of the old building. Tonight she was going to hit the town and make her mark on the world. She was going to put on her best red lipstick and her best black and white floral skirt and her AC/DC Back in Black t-shirt tied into a knot. Her favourite combinations a tight tied up top and floral skirt pulled in her waist and showed off her full figure wonderfully. Dawn was tall and built heavy, years of warm soup and healthy home cooked meals filled her bones, and she loved every part of it. She was however, curious to see how this pride held up to the public view of Baywatch babe ideals.

Santa Carla being a beach town made no difference to Dawn, she loved the way she looked and her style.

" Hey, listen Dawn I know you are going through a lot right now, but if you need anyone or even just some company please give me a call, okay?" Nathan spooked her out of her trance with a half smile.

" Thanks Nate, I'm really okay. You don't have to look after me all the time, I'm grown woman you know." Dawn let out a light laugh and looked over with a grateful smile.

"Thank you. For being my friend all these years. If I need help I know I have a good friend to lean on. But I'm just processing learning how to live on my own. Its something I have to do for myself." Nathan was taken aback with the honesty in her voice. He knew he had nothing to worry about and with a soft smile he left the store with crates in hand.

After leaving and locking the doors and placing a soft hand on the frame of the building Dawn took her wagon and began walking up the hill to head back home. She picked the perfect day to run to work, because the walk home at night was absolutely gorgeous. Stars glittered the sky and the moon the hung in the sky framed the night in the most perfect glow. Leaving the wagon outside by the garden Dawn smiled warmly at the moon, it was like the whole world knew.

Running through the house blasting the Talking Heads Dawn put together her look. After seeing it worked just as wonderful  as in her mind she added some rings and long layered necklaces. Finishing the look with a long feather earring and some smudged black eye-shadow she smiled at herself.

"Well hello gorgeous."  Sliding on red lipstick and giving her hair a fluff she sighed, making eye contact with herself.

" It's time, we are going to be wonderful." Eyes full of hope stared back at her.

Walking out the door Dawn walked to her moped. Sitting on the bike the girl hiked her skirt up in her lap. It wasn't an old bike, it just wasn't well maintained because Dawn and her grandparents never went into town. A soft purr pooled out the the machine into the night, almost as if the bike was just as ready as Dawn.

Taking off down the hill she couldn't help but speed with excitement, wind blowing her wild curls past her head. You could see the lights of The Santa Carla boardwalk light up the night sky light a cluster of colourful stars, with only the smell of salt water to pull you down to earth. Zooming towards her future Dawn began to hear old fashioned carnival music. She had Arrived.

Locking the bike up under the boardwalk she sighed, already slightly overwhelmed with the sounds and the sheer volume of people. Stepping out onto the boardwalk however put all her fears to rest. Lights and smiling faces where everywhere. From the laughing families on vacation to the punks herding together in front of the vinyl store all Dawn could feel was joy.

Everyone walked in either groups or pairs laughing and talking between themselves. The only outlier was a chubby girl walking with eyes filled with wonder. Her eyes where glued to all the shops and stands selling everything from jewellery to comics. Turning her attention to the rides and games as she wondered she stopped to look at the Ferris wheel. Its was huge and radiating the most wonderful purple glow.

Without a second thought Dawn jumped in line money at the ready. Noticing it was only couples and groups of two she laughed softly to herself. As the line inched forward her heart pounded in her chest, the tallest thing she had ever been on was her roof. This was defiantly taller then her roof.

Soon with no time at all dawn was next in line.

"How many?" The Ferris Wheel worker looked beyond tired.

"Just one!" Dawn exclaimed happily handing her money to the man.

He stepped forward as her pod pulled forward and came to a soft stop.

"Here you go.Please be sure not the shake the pod and keep your hands and feet inside the ride." His voice monotone from the sheer amount of times her was forced to say that a night.

Dawn gave a quick nod wondering who in there right mind would shake the pod to begin with. Stepping into it and having a seat she breathed out, heart pounding in her ears. The wheel began to move her pod rocking back and fourth slowly as she slowly made her way above the crowds and the noise. When Dawn finally reached the top she gasped at the sight before her.

All of Santa Carla lit up in all kinds of wonderful colours. Shades of blues and pinks danced around the town as far as the eye could see, all heightened by the glow of the moon. It Took Dawns breathe away, all she could think about was everything she had missed out on. All the times she could have seen the man made constellation.

What Dawn didn't know then was that as she was taking in the sights they were staring right back at her. He was staring right up at her taken back by the look of hope and wonder in her eyes.

That was the first time David ever saw Dawn, while his little family were busy messing around on the merry go round he had decided to look up at the moon. That is when he saw her in the glow of soft purple moonlight. She stood out because she was sitting alone and yet seemed so happy. For the first time in a long time, David was curious.
