CHAPTER 6

BIRTHDAY

IT HAS BEEN an hour since they left me in my room, but instead of resting, I have exhausted myself by thinking about what has happened since I arrived. There are so many voices and questions in my head and I feel like my head is about to explode from exhaustion.

When I heard a constant knocking from outside, it awakened me out of my deep thoughts. I hurried to the door after fixing myself.

After opening the door, Ida came in with a tray of food in her hands. My eyes then darted to the woman she is with.

"Lady Farrah... good afternoon, po," I greeted with my head down then I took a single step backward to let her in.

"How are you, Rees?" she asked as she roamed around her gaze inside the room.

After she asked me a question, I felt guilty and ashamed. I know I caused a commotion last night as a result of my reckless decision.

Ida and Lady Farrah are both waiting for my response, and it appears that they are both weighing my reaction.

"A-Ayos na po ako, Lady Farrah. At pasensya na po sa nangyari... k-kagabi," sabi ko na may mahinang boses.

"Ida, can you leave us for a while?" Lady Farrah asked politely.

Ida mumbled a yes before bowing her head. She reminded me to eat the food she had brought with her before she left.

Paglabas ni Ida ay agad akong hinarap ni Lady Farrah. Huminga siya ng malalim bago nagsalita.

"Rees..." umpisa niya. "About what happened last night. I don't really know what's gotten into him. Iyon ang unang beses na ginawa niya iyon," patuloy niya.

"What were you doing there in the first place?" she added asking.

"Ah, napag utosan lang po ako ni Miss Olga na dalhin ang tea sa inyo," sagot ko.

"Then what happened? Why was he acting that way? Because we tried asking Drago he wasn't able to give us a sensible answer. He so angry at us!" she said with a hint of frustration.

I honestly don't know what to say to her. Kasi kahit ako ay hindi ko alam kung bakit ganoon na lang ang reaksyon ng Alpha.

"I really wish I could answer you Lady Farrah but..." I didn't finish my sentence because I don't want to disappoint her even more.

"Nasaan po pala ang Alpha?" I carefully asked.

"He's still in his room. We were having a hard time taming him last night so I had to ask Zara to sedate him."

I can't hide the shock on my face after she said those.

"My son is talking to him right now. We didn't tell him you run away last night because I'm afraid he'll go untamed again," she uttered with furrowed eyebrows. "The last time we did this was a year ago," she added softly but I can still sense how troubled she is.

"I can leave the mansion, Lady Farrah," I suggested. Actually, I have been thinking about it and maybe it's for the best.

Nanlaki naman ang mga mata niya. She looks alarmed, then she instantly held my hands.

"Don't. Don't leave, Rees. It doesn't have to be this way. I'll take care of this mess and I promise that it will not happen again," she pleads.

I was about to ask her another question but I stopped when someone knocks on the door.

Pagbukas ko ay si Tarik ang bumungad sa'kin. I let him in after informing Lady Farrah about his son.

"How's your cousin?" Lady Farrah asked the moment Tarik stepped inside.
