CHAPTER 22

TAKING RISK

"HMMM, YOU LOOK okay now, compare yesterday. I'm guessing your talk with the Alpha last night went well," Ida speculated.

"Well, good morning to you too, Ida," I told her instead. She then laughs at me while crossing her arms.

"So, tell me. Nakapagusap na kayo ng maayos? Did he clear everything to you?"

Ida keeps on asking me all day, even during our kitchen chores but I didn't answer her yet. Baka kasi may makarinig.

"We're alone now, maybe you can start telling me. Patawad kong makulit ako, gusto ko lang kasing malaman kung ano na ang magiging desisyon mo. Because as your friend, I want to know how to help when things go wrong," paliwanag niya, pagkatapos ay pinalobo nito ang mga pisngi.

I chuckled and linked my arm to hers then I motioned her to sit on the ground.

"I know, Ida. And I appreciate the things you do for me. Salamat din kasi naging kaibigan kita." Ida smiled at me and urges me to talk once more. Napatawa na lang ako sa reaksyon niya. Then I began to tell her everything, including the things I haven't told her yet.

Ida listens intently as I speak. As expected, I saw different reactions from her. But despite the things she learned, not a single indifference is seen on her face. I'm glad she didn't misjudge me.

"Wow, alam kong may kung ano sa pagitan ninyo ng Alpha pero hindi ko inaasahan na ganito na pala ka seryoso," Ida said, still feeling dazed.

"I know, and somehow, it scared me. Each day, my feelings for him grow deeper and I can't stop it. The things between us are getting complicated." I rubbed my hands to my face with frustration.

Kagabi lang ayos ako pero ngayon ay hindi ko na alam. Parang biglang naglaho ang lakas ng loob na meron ako kagabi.

"And I'm concerned about the Alpha's mate, Ida. What if she's not really dead?"

Ida's forehead formed a knot. "Hindi ko alam, Rees. If she really is alive then, how come the Alpha still hasn't found her yet? And whom did the Alpha grieve for? Kasi hindi ba nasabi ko sa'yo ang tungkol dito?" naguguluhang tanong ni Ida.

Yes, she mentioned this before. Could it be that the woman he rejected and the woman who died was his mate? Pero bakit nga ba nagawa iyon ng Alpha? Maybe he has reasons? Pero ano?

But he said he makes mistakes before
at sa mga nagdaang paguusap namin ay ramdam ko na nagsisi siya sa mga naging desisyon niya noon. And he also keeps mentioning that he'll do things right.

Napukaw ako sa pagiisip nang pitikin ni Ida ang ilong ko.

"Ida! That hurts!" reklamo ko sabay haplos ng aking ilong.

"Ang lalim kasi ng iniisip mo. Ano na naman 'yan?"

"I'm thinking if Alpha Drago really rejected his mate then what do you think his reason is? That was his Luna, Ida."

Hindi ko mapigilang masaktan.

"Whatever his reason is, it must be something deep," sagot niya. "Ugh! Let's not talk about it, Rees. We're talking about your issues here, not anything else," she added.

"But that's one of my issues, Ida. Both the Alpha and I are already fated with someone. Ayaw kong makasakit at natatakot akong masaktan," amin ko sa kanya.

She sighed heavily and looked me in the eyes.

"Rees, I know you have doubts and I know that you still have questions left unanswered. But you have to know that sometimes, we have to take a risk."
