CHAPTER 28

THE MAN FROM earlier is with the Alpha. Both of them are seated on a chair and they seemed to be engrossed in their conversation. Nakatalikod ang lalaki pero alam kong siya iyon. He still looks weary. I think it is because of what that woman gave him. 

But who is he anyway? Is he a leader too?

"Oh, my! He's here!" Ida whispered beside me.

"Sino?" tanong ko sabay baling sa kanya.

"Si Alpha Synth," sagot niya habang nakatingin sa unahan kung saan naroroon sina Drago. So that man is Synth.

When I remembered what had happened earlier, my brows furrowed. If that man is Synth, what is his connection to Savannah? Then I recall what he told her. He mentioned punishing her for something she did. I silently gasped when I realized something. Could it be? Si Savannah ba ang babaeng pumatay sa Luna niya?

But judging from what I have witnessed earlier, I think something deeper is going on with them. Which I find odd. Why would a man associate himself with the woman who killed the person he loved?

Parang biglang sumakit ang ulo ko sa sariling tanong. I shouldn't dwell on their problems. I have my own problems and issues to deal with. I just hope I'll fix them sooner.

"Let's go find our seats. Magsisimula na ang palabas," tawag sa amin ni Fran.

Nang makahanap kami ng upuan ay hinanap ko muli ang lalaking nagngangalang Synth pero wala na ito sa pwesto niya, sa halip, ang nakakapasong titig ng Alpha ang nakita ko.

He appears stoic and cold as usual, but I can see mischief lurking behind his orbs. I bowed my head and played with my fingers after pouting my lips. His gaze alone makes me uneasy. I raise my eyes a few seconds later, but his gaze remains fixed on me. He raises his brow, then licks his lips.

Crap! Is he attempting to seduce me? Why? Are you tempted once more? I mentally slapped myself in the face for being weak. I cleared my throat and focused on the show instead.

Following the show, the sky was covered in various colors from fireworks that danced to their own rhythm. The sound and light it makes as it reaches the sky are magical.

"Rees, ang lantern mo," Mika said as she gives me the lantern.

I took it and thanked her. I scanned the area for the Alpha, but he was nowhere to be found.

I jerked when a hand touched my elbow. I turned around quickly to see who it was.

"Tarik!" I called his name as I touched my chest. "May kailangan ka ba?" I asked him after composing myself. 

"Come with me?"

He didn't let me talk. Kahit naguguluhan ako ay sumunod ako sa kanya. Where is he taking me?

"Where are we heading? The floating of lanterns is about to start," I told him in the midst of our silence. 

"Follow this path. You'll see a lake a few steps away from here. Aalis na ako." He left after he said those.

"Grumpy as always," I murmured to myself.

Nang marating ko ang ilog ay namangha ako sa tanawin. The lake reflects the stars above. It was almost as if you could reach out and touch them. I smiled as I noticed how each star glistened. It's breathtaking.

"Are you planning to bathe again?" I gasped and turned around. My eyes widened when I saw the Alpha. Namula ako nang mapagtanto ko kung ano ang ibig niyang sabihin.
