There are different kinds of people and what they want or look for in their partner. For example, a person wants the other person whom they'll be in a relationship with to be just like them: same likes, same dislikes; the other kind of person likes to ind their opposite match because they're great believers of the saying, "opposites attract".
After having paired a lot of couples. that's what I learned. And while pairing another one, that's what I should have in mind.
It's a Monday today, meaning every student or employee in the house had to go to their field of study or work. Mom already went to her office, and Dad drove her there. The twins got to their car and drove off to their college as well, leaving Nana with Royce and me.
I got to the kitchen half an hour before Royce did and it surprised me how eager he was to go to school. That was so unusual of Royce to get excited for school, everyone knows that. And I think he still owes the Math teacher 2 hours of detention from the last school year he's enrolled at our high school. He had to shift schools because of his parents, and he wasn't pleased with that not only because he had to leave his second family, but also because he had to leave his fling, Piper Williams.
I got to eat breakfast first than him, but Nana and I talked a lot about my matchmaking service and about Megan's love for Blake and how I intend her to be Eric's match that Royce had caught up for a breakfast with me.
"Let's go," He announced as he gently pushed his plate away from him. It had only been 10 minutes since he sat next to me, and he already ate all of the pancake Nana put on his plate, which was a lot.
I looked at Royce as he went to Nana who was flipping pancakes, and landed a kiss on her cheek. She giggled as he hugged her, and it was a cute scene. He was smiling and chuckling as she flooded him with kisses but when he turned to look at me, he got his serious and annoyed look merged in one.
"You're going to attend school or just sit there and eat all day?" He asked and gave Nana one more kiss on the cheek before heading to the living room for his bag.
"I'll go to school," I put a small slice of pancake in my mouth and got up from my seat. "What's with him?" I looked at Nana and asked her quietly.
She shrugged and laughed at me. "He's excited to go back to his high school, don't you think?"
"More like excited to meet the girls and make out with them," I answered and got my pack of Skittles from the fridge then headed to my room to brush my teeth.
"Why are you so slow at walking?" Royce turned to look at me angrily. Then he paused and watched me walk past him. As soon as I was a few steps ahead of him, I let out a grunt and tried to walk faster.
"You're the school's bad boy, a part of the popular's group. You aren't supposed to be seen walking to school with a commoner like me," I said as I pull the strap of my backpack. It didn't even take him more than 5 steps to catch up with my pace, we were already walking side by side.
"That's crap, the popular group? I don't think I signed up for a membership for that," He snorted and continued, "And you're not a commoner, you stand out from everyone else at school."
It seemed to me that he was just rambling and doesn't know what he's saying so I asked.
"Is that an insult or a compliment?"
"I'd say that it was a compliment, but then I'd be lying," He said and before I could even react, he ran and yelled, "Catch me, slowpoke!"
And there we witness the real Royce Edwards.
He was a bit far from me but I could still hear his laugh. A grin slyly crept onto my face, and there was that familiar feeling again. He smokes cigarettes, has tons of girls chasing him but still is a kid inside. It wouldn't hurt if we're going to be like we were, right?
