It was a cool and chilly morning, such a perfect weather for a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows.
And matchmaking.
You see, love is never out of style and the same goes with matchmaking. Every person deserves someone right for them and matching them is like putting puzzle pieces together — once you put them together, they make a whole picture that can tell you story that could leave you amazed.
And as a matchmaker, that's what I'm going to keep doing.
Eric called me the moment I got up from bed, asking me if we could meet at the same coffee shop where we had our first meeting about the matchmaking for him. Recalling that my planner was blank for today's date, I agreed then we both ended the call.
After showering, I put on a warm cotton sweater and a leather jacket, a pair of leggings, and a couple of cute socks. And I don't know how I managed to do it but I applied some decent make up properly on my face, not runway model like and not too bare faced, just the right color. And unlike the last time, today I had some breakfast to avoid looking viciously hungry in front of Eric.
Once I stepped out the house, that was when I realized that I prepared a lot for Eric. I dressed cutely, and even put some make up on. I'm not usually like this, what's wrong with me? But then, instead of making a big fuss out of it, I thought of what Mom had taught me, "You can never be less presentable for a meeting."
Nodding to myself, I made my way to the coffee shop.
The coffee shop was bright and it was radiating warmth from the inside. I hurriedly went in and touched the back of my fingers together, raised it in front of my mouth then warmed it with my breath. The atmosphere inside was more comfortable than when we last came here― it was more lively and crowded. It kind of reminded me of how the vikings would feast, every one was noisy but and having fun despite the cold morning.
Families were gathered together, having breakfast when others were just inside the coffee shop to warm themselves up then eventually walk out the premise to go to their workplaces or schools after having a hot cup of coffee.
Scanning the tables for Eric wasn't a difficult task. Aside from having good looks that make him stand out from the rest, he was still seated on the table near the center of the coffee shop with all his attention on his phone. I walked up to him with a smile, fully aware of the gazes following me to Eric and it was still amusing.
He was still focused on what he's doing with his phone as I took my seat in front of him and placed my purse on the table which somehow made him startled and almost drop his phone.
"Oh, sh....." He trailed off upon seeing that he was face to face with a lady, and there were a lot of children inside the coffee shop. He placed a hand on his chest and let out a breath, "Man, you almost made me throw my phone, Maddie."
I giggled, and grabbed a brochure then looked for something sweet to eat, but not pancakes again. "It's because you only concentrated on what you're doing on your phone." I put my elbows on the table and leaned a little bit towards him. "How many waitresses asked you for your order already?"
I narrowed my eyes at him and saw him scratch the back of his neck. "Well, I don't know but they did ask me,"
"Just as I suspected," I stated as I sat back into my seat, making both of us look at each other and laugh. "Let's just get something to eat, I'll pay for my order."
