The place I'm in is between awkwardness and confusion.
I'm certain that I'm not the kind of girl that would want or even dare to mess someone else's relationship and would find it entertaining to see them break up, even when I love the guy. I would pretty much rather see them be happy and let the tears roll on my cheeks, go on a party and meet another guy.
That was dramatic, and so is the fact that Piper keeps on accusing me of stealing Royce from her and it doesn't make the slightest bit of sense!
We were still standing on the same spot. My legs were starting to hurt as I forced myself not to listen to Piper yelling at me and drawing other student's and even stranger's attention. They started to swarm around us and I'm amazed on how Piper didn't even feel the slightest bit embarrassed.
When she was done with her rants, which took almost half an hour by the way, her voice was a little hoarse and she looked haggard. She kept on running her fingers through her hair which was once in a neat pony, making a few strands escape. Her make up was messy, sweat was dripping from her forehead and was running down her face along with her concealer, revealing her true skin tone which was a bit far from the color of her make up.
She was breathing heavily but the fire in her eyes never seem to waver. I walked up to her, and had a smirk on.
"Piper," I placed a hand on her shoulder. "do you think that letting out your anger and insecurities on me will help you get your boyfriend back?"
She just glared at me and my smirk widened.
I patted her shoulder and nodded. "Yep, it wouldn't. You better stop acting like a brat because there's a crowd around us."
A few gasps were audible from the audience, followed by murmurs which were becoming annoying. It wasn't an intention to embarrass Piper, but seeing her standing frozen and her expression in disbelief, I knew I had to send the crowd away. I immediately walked past her and asked the people to stop gossiping and just get back to what they're doing then grabbed Piper's hand.
"Where are you taking me, Forster?" She asked, her voice shaky.
"Just quit it with the last name basis, Piper. I'm Maddie and I'm taking you to some place we'll be comfortable talking-"
She opened her mouth to interrupt but I immediately spoke.
"And make sure you don't make a scene there. You always make a scene,"
She didn't answer or retorted, just sighed. I smiled inwardly and we continued on walking.
As soon as we stepped our foot on the store's door mat, I let go of her hand and pushed the door open. It has been almost a year since I last went here, but it still smells the same. It's a must to smell the sweet aroma of cookies and pastries the moment you set your foot on the door mat, really.
"What is this place?" Piper asked the moment she stepped inside the Perfect Bakery.
It's the shop's name, Perfect Bakery. I don't find it funny or ridiculous to name your shop Perfect if it describes the service and food really well, don't you think?
It wasn't your typical bakery, on how the Perfect's bakery is designed. It looked like it was a part of a castle's kitchen, cobblestone walls, a stone oven and there's a fireplace in the middle of the shop. There are velvet curtains for the windows, and a statue of a knight's armor on one side but to change the old school setting, they placed a big flat screen TV on top of the fireplace and also, free WiFi.
"It's a bakery, isn't it obvious, Piper?" I said and immediately went to the counter to order some cookies.
"Duh, I know it's a bakery. I can read, you know." She muttered. "But why bring me here?"
