"Have a nice time dancing, kids!"
"Dad," I said with a groan.
We got to the twin's college at 5:30 pm, 30 minutes before the Masquerade ball starts.
We stood at the entrance of the college, where Royce almost made the guard call back up. Royce was talking with someone on his phone and I couldn't walk in these heels properly without him helping me so I just stood beside him and observed.
No one was outside the except those who had just arrived like us, but they were real students of this college. They wore masks that covered their entire face, some wore masks like mine that only covered the upper half of my face except the eyes of course. Girls dressed like they were guests of a royal event, but weren't exactly as graceful like women in the royal age. Most were like me, even the slowest of walking has a high tendency of you tripping and falling butt first on the floor.
Guys, they looked more classy. They had tuxedos on, but were styled differently. Others had their sleeves rolled up, some left their blazers unbuttoned while others, I'm not certain if they even had a pair of long sleeves underneath the blazer. There was one thing I'm certain about though, no guy looked as classy and handsome as Royce.
But, everyone was stunning.
Royce was still talking and chuckling with someone over the phone when a guy in an unbuttoned tuxedo walked towards me. When he got closer, I got a whiff of his scent and I almost puked. He smelled like a bottle of vodka, and no sober person would say that this guy's not drunk and just tipsy because he sure is. He couldn't walk straight, and the smell of this guy's breath is already proof that he's drunk.
"Hey," He greeted with a smirk.
I prevented myself from gagging. I just covered my nose and mouth with my hand like how ladies used to cover their faces with a fan, so it wouldn't seem rude and make him mad.
"Hi," I said.
He moved closer, making me take steps backward until the back of my gown touched the brick wall.
"So, you have a date for the dance?"
I told many lies and I don't like to lie some more, even if it was a lie that could make this guy back off. I opened my mouth to answer but before my voice could even come out, the guy suddenly flew backwards and dropped to the ground.
A gasp escaped my mouth and Royce sprinted towards the guy then sat on his stomach.
He grabbed the guy by the collar and threw a punch to his face. The guy's nose seemed to be broken, his cheek had a bruise and blood was dripping from his lip. "Who do you think you are!? You piece of―"
"Royce! Stop!" I yelled. I tried to run but this gown was preventing me to do so, it just made me feel useless like, I couldn't even run towards him and stop the fight.
A couple of guards suddenly rushed out of the college gates and grabbed the two by the shoulders. Royce immediately pointed towards the guy who was wiping blood from his nose.
"He was so f**kin' drunk! He tried to hit on my girl!" He yelled, his voice was muffled by the mask but the anger on his tone wasn't hard to notice.
The guard who was holding the drunk guy leaned a bit closer to the latter's face and nodded. "That kid's telling the truth, let him go Charles."
Charles nodded and pushed Royce away from him. "But physical violence is strictly against the college's rules, and if you're a student here you would know that kid."
Fudge. We haven't even entered the college premises and they're already about to find out we're not even students here.
"We're students here!" I said and did my best to walk towards them.
