song of the chap: hold me while you wait- lewis capaldi
claire and the others all found ways to stay in the hospital with sierra. 1 of them were always in the room no matter what. they got hotel rooms, but would take turns staying the night with sierra. well they were supposd to, but claire ended up taking the responsibility the first night in. she didnt want to leave her sister.
the next day after everyone got to new york, cas and claire were sitting on opposite sides of the bed waiting for the boys to be back with food.
"you should tell your parents. they deserve to know. especially if she gets stuck in a coma." cas commented, looking up to claire with tears both in their eyes. claire nodded, she just wanted her family to have a good time. her parents were on a honeymoon, it had been 40 years since they gotten married.
"i know. i just want them to have a good time. they deserve it."
"just call, they can always go back to their honeymoon another time. please. i dont want my second family not to be here for her." cas said with a bit more of a certain tone, claire sighed and grabbed her phone. their mother knew about sierras addiction, but not her father.
"mom, sierra had an; accident." claire said into the phone, hearing her mothers breath lapsing hurt her more than you could believe.
"what? what happened?" susan said, already crying.
"she relapsed. and fell down the stairs. they said if they dont take her out of the medical coma soon she has a high chance of falling into an actual coma." claire cried, now holding cas's other hand.
"what? oh my god we're on our way right now. whats the prognosis until then? how close is soon?"
"by the end of the day today." was all claire said before her mother hung up. claire burst into a heavier cry and leaned her head on sierras legs on the bed. casilda leaned over to console claire, knowing it must not have been easy breaking the knews to her mother.
"they're gonna be so disapointed!" claire cried, cas now getting up and walking next to claire. she sat next to claire, squishing into the seat. cas couldnt say much to prove her wrong, she knew that their father was already disapointed in claire for having an addiction, and now they had a second daughter.
ethan and his wife megan walked in next, they had just gotten there from their house in jersey. claire looked up and saw her brother, who was surprised about both of his sisters.
"she just got off the phone with susan and george." cas explained, looking up to ethan before ethan ran to claires side.
-
"they're here. at the front. we need to explain over there or else they will throw a scene in front of sierra." claire said, locking her phone and standing up. ethan and claire both sighed, knowing that their parents were understanding and supportive till it came to drugs. with claire they were relentless.
claire and ethan walked down to the main area where they saw their parents sitting at a seat. they made eye contact and stood up, a furious face on their father.
"no one minded to tell me that my daughter is dependent on drugs?!" george exclaimed in anger. claire so shocked that she stumbled back a bit when george started yelling. claire had literally never in her life seen her father like this. it scared her. she knew her father was old school and believed that addiction was a choice, but she didnt expect him to react this way. when she was going through her addiction in the 11th grade, george was just quiet about the whole thing.
the biggest thing claire didnt expect, was the way her mother reacted.
"i thought you said she was doing good! i thought this whole charade was over!" was what she said, which took claire and ethan both aback. they stood there with shocked faces and shaky hands, holding onto their sanity like it was life or death.
"what?" claire studdered, tears welling in her eyes. her mother simply nodded as if she thought it was a shared frustration. when she realized it wasn't, she stood back and let her husband take the reins.
"its bad enough that you went down this path, but sierra just tops the cake. i thought i only had one dumb daughter, turns out i have 2." he said, grabbing his coat from the chair to sit back in it. susan just stayed watching her kids. the expression on her face couldn't very well explain the feelings she had. it showed a bit of surprize and cock-iness, but also a spidder of shock.
"damn." was all ethan could say. both he and his sister stayed where they were, shocked their "perfect" parents were being so ignorant. a fire of rage sparked inside claire, they were being so ignorant to sierra, and that was not something claire allowed.
"you know, i thought you guys were just scared and shocked when i became addicted, but now that its happening again i realize that you guys are just assholes." claire exclaimed, annoyance became strong in her tone.
claires parents were now the shocked ones, her father standing up and slowly walking closer.
"what?" susans voice returned to her normal sweet tone, like she wasn't just shaming her own daughter for something she couldn't control.
"you heard me. assholes. shaming a woman for having a disease. while she lays dying in a hospital bed, at risk for falling into a coma." claire took a moment to breathe. she hated having to yell at the woman who birthed her, it felt like betrayal. "I would be fine if i was the one in that bed, or anyone else, but not sierra. sierra has been through too much for her own mother and father to be ignorant to her," claire added with a stern tone, before grabbing ethans arm and turning around.
it hurt them both to have to turn away from their rather amazing parents, but there was nothing to excuse the way they just treated their daughter.
