It's been 6 months. sierras been in a coma since the accident, they were unable to stop it so she fell into the coma and the doctors did not have any clue when she was going to wake up.

cas, claire, ethan, mitty, and kras never left her side. Mitchel and kras got an apartment with cas, they've been living there since.

the rooms are always quiet. nothing is ever talked about. the only noises heard in the room were the scratches of casildas pencils, as she was trying to study for finals.

when the finals came around, cas passed but barely. she was taunted by her classmates, but they never passed sierras' name around. it was as if they all mourned the sunny presence of sierra in class. as if they missed the way she cracked jokes and pissed the teachers off 24/7; as if they missed her.

mitch and the rest of the band didn't bother to work on any other pieces for phases, it reminded them too much of the memories of the girl who made life feel better.

July, was when things changed. everyone was in sierras hospital room, celebrating her birthday.

"happy birthday to you!" the group sang as they put candles on a cake, not able to light them because of hospital policy. everyone had tears in their eyes, especially Mitchel.

he hadn't been with any other girl since sierra had fallen into her coma, he waited for her. mitty would always come to see her after a long day and told her all about it, he even cracked a few jokes to see if that would wake her up. spoiler alert: it never did.

so now, he stood and wished her a happy 22nd birthday, wishing for himself that she would wake up.

cas and claire had gone numb, they hadn't cried in months. not just that, but neither of them had actually felt happy in 7 months.

in sierras' mind, she heard them all sing happy birthday to her.

some say that people in comas can't hear or see, some say they can hear but not see, and some say it's just like sleeping for a long time. for sierra, it was like she was asleep. but now, for the first time in months, she could hear. it was faint and she couldn't recognize the voices, but she heard!

as time went on and people continued the birthday celebration, she began to be able to hear more and more. she had a bright smile in her mind, of course on the outside it didn't show.

she started to grow eager to feel them, to see them, to talk to them, but she knew something was wrong. she knew she wasn't really awake.

but it was when cas was holding sierras' hand and telling her about Christians' weird face mask thing when sierra began to regain the feeling in her hand.

now she could feel everything. cas holding her hand, claire kissing her forehead, ethan rubbing her feet, mittys hand comfortingly on her stomach, everything.

she shed an actual tear.

everyone took it as the tears she had been 'crying' for the past 6 months, a result of keeping your eyes shut. but mitty found it different.

"no guys I'm telling you, look it's clear! the coma tears are kinda yellow!" mitty exclaimed happily, catching everyone's attention. only seconds later, sierra felt the lock get taken off her eyelids.

she started to stir, really catching everyone's attention.

her family all stood up in shock, staring the girl down. casildas hands shook with fear and claire grabbed them, looking up into her friend's eyes with hope.

sierra was blinded by the bright lights in the room, her eyes adjusting to the environment.

everyone screamed with excitement, which then caused sierra to go partially deaf before her eyes adjusted and she recognized everyone in the room.
