Yujin returned home from her group project meeting at the cafe by walking along the alleyway. Her feet were gentle as she hummed along to the tune she was listening to, unaware to the footsteps behind her. Yujin's feet came to a halt as she observed something odd.
The road lights created shadows on the ground, not only on her but also for the other person. As she turned down the volume on her music and her eyes widened, after she heard someone behind her chuckled. She froze as she can hear the panic flow over her blood.
Yujin didn't waste any time and rushed away from the person pursuing her. Her hand was engrossed in taping into Jaemin's contact, causing her to misstep and tumble to the ground. "Arghh," she groaned as she watched the figure approaching her.
She could see the person's smiling face, but it was dark and he was wearing a cap, so she can not see it well. Yujin crawled to the ground and tried to leave, but was stopped when the guy tugged her back. Yujin took the opportunity to kick him in the face.
Her eyes widened as she could hear the person groane in pain. "What?" Yujin gasped as she noticed the long, straight hair that had fallen on the person's shoulder. Yujin was stunned as the girl turned to face her and began to approach her from behind.
She got up on her feet and raced as fast as she could before crashing with someone's chest. "Argh!!" yelled the girl as she took a step back. "Yujin, baby, hey it's me," Jaemin said. Yujin turned to face the boy and leapt into his arms for a tight embrace.
"Hey, what's wrong?" the boy said as he massaged her back. Yujin sniffled, still anxious by the situation. Jaemin's brows wrinkled in worry as he caught a glimpse of someone. "Was someone following you?" the boy questioned quietly. The girl nod.
"Up," the boy muttered as he raised Yujin, her arms around his neck and her legs wrapped around his waist. Yujin breathed his scent, which eased her anxieties. Jaemin walked back to their house, still thinking about the person who seemed to be quite familiar to him.
"What happened?" Na Bi stood up, concerned, and looked up at the girl clinging to Jaemin, her head buried in the nook of his neck. "Someone followed her, so she panicked, and yup, this happened," Jaemin explained as he sat next Jeno.
"Baby, look at me," Jaemin said as he gently patted the girl's back and brushed her hair that fell on her back. Yujin sat up on his lap, her eyes fixed on him. "Can you tell me what you saw" Jaemin whispered, as he gently touched Yujin's cheek.
"I got panic so, I couldn't see her face as she wore this cap, so I assumed she was a man," she recalled, "but when I kicked her in the face, the cap came off, showing her long hair. Exactly like mine and Bi," She said, nibbling her bottom lips.
As she recounted, Jaemin's gaze never left her wavering ones. He stroked the tears from her eyes with his thumb on her face. "It's all right, you're safe now," Jaemin said as he wrapped her back into his arms and turned his gaze to Jeno and Bi.
"I think you two should stay here since it's late and I think this person knows us because I was followed the other day too," he said as he looked up at them. "Min, why didn't you tell us?" Bi asked. "I wasn't sure at first, but I saw her again today," he added.
"Just be careful, and we'll start going in groups from now on. Renjun will accompany Yujin to class. Bi should try to get the help of Hyuck to accompany you around the department. Something doesn't seem right, like if something bad is about to happen "the boy explained.
Jeno's worried expression turned to Bi, but the girl flashed him her smile, which was similar to his. "I'm not scared because I have Jeno, my knight in shining armor," the girl added, beaming from ear to ear, causing Jeno to laugh and shake his head in joy.
Jaemin smiled at Jeno and Bi's antics before tilting his head to gaze at the girl in his arms. Yujin listened to his heartbeat pound against his chest with her eyes closed. "My favorite melody," she whispered softly, smiling as Jaemin hummed back.
