Me and Scarlet met at the top of the roof class. We couldn't use the gym because the boys had basketball practice. "Alright before we get to the fun, I've got an idea" Scarlet said as we got to the roof of the school. "Whenever you think of Lin, what do you think of?" she asked as we sat down on a bench. "What do I think of? Well, I mean I think of me, but more angry and violent. I think of an older me but more malicious and chaotic, wanting to cause destruction wherever she goes."
"Alright then, hold onto those emotions, they'll come in handy later." Scarlet hopped off the bench and put her hands together "Now let me get something out of the way first, I used to be like you...kind of." I looked at Scarlet in disbelief "what do you mean kind of?" Scarlet thought for a second then said "Alright so you know how I'm a demon and an angel right? Now both of these creatures have a different set of powers. Angels can heal and pure ones can grant wishes. Demons on the other hand can shape shift and throw fireballs like we're in a d&d game." I looked at Scarlet. "So, what does this have to do with me?" I asked confused, "Don't worry I'll get to that part. Now it takes a long while to master just one of those many abilities, I've basically had to master them all. While I tried to master my powers my angel and demon side would refuse to coincide with each other." Scarlet went on "To this day I still can't use both my sides at the same time without something blowing up." I stared at her, still confused. "What I'm trying to say is I kind of know how to control stuff like this" I got up, extremely pissed off that I just wasted what has it been? Like 5 minutes? "Hey where are you going, we haven't even started the fun bit yet!" I turned around and said "Oh what's the fun bit then? Getting to use me like I'm a goddamn lab rat?!" I'm so glad I had my necklace on- wait I didn't have the necklace on. I knew I brought it but I didn't wear it. "Now why would you ever think I would want to use you like a lab rat?" I was an inch away from snapping at this point "hmmm let me list off the reason! One of the first times I shifted in front of you, you wanted to know how my powers worked! Second, you didn't care a single bit when I told you about my trauma! And third-" Scarlet put her hand on my shoulder. I didn't even hear her walk up to me. "Zena, whatever made you think I was trying to hurt you?" I looked at her in disbelief. "You...you." I stood there for a second and realized that I was the one in the wrong. I was the one twisting the story, or was it me? Was it Lin? I don't know anymore. "I-I'm sorry, Scarlet." I turned around to leave. To be honest I just wanted to go back to my dorm to cry and Scarlet didn't stop me. I expected her to, but she didn't, and I left the roof.
I closed the door to my room and laid down on my bed. I had put my necklace back on the way to the dorm and just stared at the ceiling. Why did I freak out like that? I knew what happened yesterday...right? I finished my story and then Scarlet said something...something...Did she even say anything? No, she had to have said something right? This isn't the first time this has happened. I remember training myself and Lin so that I could control her, but I don't know how I did it. I picked up my necklace and held it up to the light. It was swirling with a light blue color but still transparent. I sat up and reached for my pocketknife to look at it better. I pressed the jewel shaped button on the hilt and a silver blade came out of it. It was very shiny; I could tell you that. I could see my reflection clearly in the blade. Well, it was my reflection more like Lin's, but I was used to it at this point. I stared at her for a while in the reflection of the blade. She looked pissed off and seemed to be cursing me out, but I still couldn't hear her. I probably couldn't hear her because of the necklace Scarlet gave me. I put the blade down after retracting its blade and then stared at the crystal around my neck. I took a deep breath in and took it off.
"Well look who FINALLY DECIDED TO GET HELP? Oh, look at me I'm Zena and instead of asking the person INSIDE MY OWN HEAD FOR HELP I stare at a dumb knife all day like a VIDEO GAME CHARACTER IN A CUTSCENE!"
"Could you let me talk for like five seconds?" I asked, trying not to sound annoyed. "Ugh fine rat, talk then" She responded begrudgingly. "Look alright, I know we've had our ups and downs, over the course of who knows how many years, but you've been mean to me and never helped ever since you first came into my life." I laded back down on the bed. "I know for a fact ever since that day, we've both been hurting a lot, I don't like you in my head and you don't like being in my head." I went on "The only time we were able to work together is-" I paused for a moment "that night we- I killed him" I sprung up from the bed and exclaimed "wow wow back it up, you're taking responsibility for his death for once?" I stared at Lin in the mirror, still bewildered. "Ok ok look I know I've been a jerk to you for who knows how long now but it's just because of a crap ton of pent-up rage. I'm pretty sure I just collect all of your rage and terrible thoughts you have since I'm connected to your werewolf side. That night I took it all out on him, for what he did to me, and you. I was a person once too, you know?" I looked at her in the mirror for a while longer and said, "Yea I know, I'm glad you're taking responsibility for it though." And for the first time I saw Lin smile and thank me for something. "Ok back to what I was saying though, whenever we combine our forces together, we can technically become invincible." Lin nodded her head in the mirror, signaling me to continue. "So, I was thinking we should make another deal. You cooperate with me and help me with my werewolf side, and you get to take control just a bit more, deal?" Lin thought for a second then finally said. "And you sure about this deal this time around?" I came back at her with an affirmative "Yes" She nodded and said "It's a deal then"
