Chapter 20

Nagising ako dahil biglang tumunog yung phone ko. I got my phone. It was 5:30 in the morning and Athena is already calling me. I slept for only 5 1/2 hours. What does this girl wants.

Hello! I said in my sleepy voice.
BEST I need your help. She said to me. Ang ingay talaga ng babaeng to.
Athena its too early in the morning. I said to her.
Ha? Your always awake by this time. She said to me. Parati kase akong gumigising ng 5am para magluto ng breakfast o di kaya gumawa ng activities.
Wala ako sa bahay right now Athena and 5 1/2 hours lang ang tulog ko. I said to her. I am still really sleepy.
Nasaan kaba? Bihira ka lang umalis ng weekends ah? She asked me. Madalas kase nagpapahinga lang ako tuwing weekends and kapag aalis ako kasama ko siya.
I am here sa Ilocos. Nandito ako sa bahay ng mga Marcos. I said to her.
What? Why are you there? Umuwi na ba siya? She asked me. Excited siya. Etong babaeng to kapag sa chismis hindi nagpapahuli.
No. Its kuya Sandro's birthday yesterday. Mom was in charge for the decorations and food and they invited me also. Hindi naman ako makakatanggi sa kanila. I explained to her.
Hindi mo man lang ako sinama. Hindi ko tuloy nakita yung poging birthday boy. She said to me. Kita mo to. Ang aga pa. She had a crush on kuya Sandro kase.
Hindi ka naman imbitado. I said to her seriously. Gusto ko lang asarin dahil ginising niya ako ng sobrang aga.
Ang sama ng ugali neto. She said na nagtatampo so I laugh at her.
Just kidding. Biglaan kase yung and family dinner yun so exclusive lang yun for the family. I said to her. Hindi ko din naman din siya maisasama kase ako lang naman yung ininvite at family dinner yun, nakakahiya kung magsasama ako ng iba.
Iba ka talaga. Tinuturing na family member ng mga Marcos. Ako kaya kailan ko makikilala si Sandro my loves. She said na kinikilig pa. May pa sandro my loves pa siya.
Huy! Magsitigil ka may jowa ang tao. Saway kong sabi sa kanya. May jowa naman talaga si kuya Sandro.
Weh! Seryoso? She said na malungkot.
Yeah! Pinakilala nga niya sa family niya kagabi and inaway pa ako. I said to her.
What? Bakit ka naman inaway? She asked me.
Basta its a long story. I'll tell you later pag nakauwi na ako. I said to her. Gusto kong ikwento ng personal sa kanya. Nakakpagod makipagdaldalan through call.
Okay! She said to me.
Wait you forgot to tell me why do you need help. I said. Dahil sa kadaldalan niya nakalimutan niyang sabihin why she needed help.
I almost forgot. I need your opinion kase about sa papers na ipapasa natin bukas. She said to me. Ah! Kaya pala. She is always asking me help in terms of paper works pero no need na naman kase she is smart and she does things perfectly. Gusto lang niya ng approval na tama yung ginawa niya.
Just bring it sa house later. After breakfast uuwi na din ako. I said to her.
Okay! Thank you Sunny. She said to me. She doen't need to say thank you. I am always here to help her naman just like she is to me.
No worries Athena. Sige na I'll go ahead na. Bye and see you later. I said to her.
Bye and see you later also. She said and hung up the phone.

Dahil kay Athena nawala na yung antok ko so bumangon na ako at naghilamos at toothbrush and bumaba na ako. Magluluto na lang ako ng breakfast for us. Na miss ko din magluto for them. Yes po marunong akong mag luto. Si mom ang nagturo saakin since I was 5 I guess. Hindi naman dahil sa may kasama kame sa bahay hindi na ako natuto ng gawaing bahay. I love cooking lalo na for the persons I love.

I cooked fried rice, eggs, bacon and fried eggplant. Just simple filipino breakfast for us. Hindi din naman kase sila masyadong mahilig sa mga bonggang pagkain, basta masarap okay na sa kanila. The other food is already set on the table. Yung eggplant na lang yung niluluto ko pero malapit na din naman akong matapos.

Ang bango naman ng niluluto niyo manang amoy hanggang taas. Nagulat ako ng magsalita si kuya Sandro na palapit pa lang sa kitchen.
Ay! Kabayo... Kuya Sandro you scared me. I said to him.
Sorry. He said and smiled to me. Akala ko si manag yung nagkukuto. Kaya naman pala ang bango because you are the one who is cooking. He said to me agian.
Ako pa ba! Good morning by the way. I said to him.
Good morning too. Na miss ko yung luto mo. He said to me. Almost 4 years na din nung last akong nagluto para sa kanila.
Yeah! Na miss ko din magluto para sainyo. I said and smiled to him. I'm almost done here, can you please call your parents and my mom already para makapag breakfast na tayo ng sabay. I said to him. I miss cooking for them kase sila nana, mom at athena lang yung pinaglukutuan ko pag nasa manila ako but minsanan lang din kase busy sa school.
Okay I'll just call them upstairs. He said to me and umalis na.

Everything in this house reminds me of him. Even what I am doing right now reminds me of him. I usually cook with him here. We aways love to prepare food for both of our families. He always compliments every food that I am preparing for his family kahit na simple lang yung niluluto ko. They are no hard to please naman kase when it comes to food. How I wish he is here right now but I know that he is doing fine there and I know someday he will eventually go home.
