*I am gonna finish the last request I just saw this and had to write about it*

You stretched as you finished the last of your assignments the day had to offer. School had been long and work even longer. You had to stay overtime to complete some work and the sun had long since set.

You closed the office and started to walk home. Macaque had told you to call him when you finished work. But it was late enough that you assumed he'd be asleep.

Unwilling to bother him and possibly wake him you just decided that if you walked fast you'd be just fine.

For the first 5 minutes nothing much happened. But after 10 minutes you noticed a hooded man following you. You turned a few corners trying to lose him so he couldn't follow you home. And after a few well placed turns you looked behind you, and he was gone.

You released a sigh and continued walking; only to be grabbed by the arm and pulled into an alleyway.

The hooded man pinned you against the wall with a grin.

"Y/n. Long time no see."

The voice made you freeze.

"G-Garrett?!" You stammered. "Why?"

Garrett flicked out a pocket knife.

"You thought you could actually leave me? Heh. Idiotic girl. You will never meet anyone better than me. You're so worthless you're lucky I even deal with you. You should be thankful."

You flinched as he pressed the knife to your neck.

"Now why don't you tell me exactly who you've been seeing?"

"Oh that's easy." Macaque's voice echoed from the shadows coupled with malicious chuckles. "It's me."

In a moment Garrett's weight vanished and the knife clattered harmlessly to the ground. All you heard was Garrett's frightened yell before everything fell eerily silent.

You panted anxiously for a few moments before Macaque's form walked from the shadows his hands resting in his pockets.

"You alright, Liánhuā?" He inquired worriedly.

"Y-Yeah....I think so." You tried to sound confident but your body was shaking and you couldn't think straight.

"You're trembling, lotus." Macaque addressed approaching slowly.

You flinched involuntarily as he neared you. So, Macaque took a few steps back.

"Sorry...I'm sorry I didn't mean to."

Macaque studied you silently for a moment.

"Is it alright if I carry you home?"

"Why?" You looked at him with a frown.

Macaque gestured to your shaking form.

"Your knees look like they'll give ou-"

Your knees locked at that moment sending you falling forward.

Macaque moved faster, catching you and landing on his knees before you could hit the pavement.

"M-Maybe being carried wouldn't be so bad." You mumbled apologetically.

Macaque chuckled as he got to a stand.

"So, who was your friend?"

"What did you do to him?" You questioned worriedly.

"Don't worry about that, now who was he?" Macaque sidestepped your question simply. His tone left no room for argument so you decided to let it go.

"My ex. He was...violent. So I ran away." You whispered feeling tears welling up in your eyes.

Macaque's jaw clenched and you saw a muscle twitch.

"Well he can't hurt you anymore."

You fiddled with your necklace.

"Macaque?"

Macaque hummed questioningly as he jumped up to a rooftop from the pavement.

"Was he...was he right about me?"

Macaque paused.

"What? Y/n no. That lunatic was insane. Don't believe a word he said."

You looked away sadly.

"You don't believe me." It was more of a statement more than a question.

You felt guilt prick your conscience and tears start to spill down your cheeks. You wanted to believe him. You really did. But you just couldn't.

"Y/n...Y/n listen to me." Macaque's tail gently curled under your chin and pressed upward urging you to look at him. "Have I ever lied to you?"

You thought for a moment while his tail wiped at the tears.

"No?"

"Then why would I lie about this?" He cocked an eyebrow at you with a small smirk.

"That's a good point." You conceded feeling your exhaustion slam back into you.

Macaque chuckled as you yawned.

"Tired, are we?"

You hummed in agreement.

"You can relax, Liánhuā." He soothed simply. "I won't let anyone hurt you."

Your heart expanded at the promise and you fell into a restful slumber.
