*so in this story everyone thinks you're a chuunibyou. (Someone who believes they have super powers but they in fact don't. Often referred to as 8th grader syndrome.) When you do have a sort of magic, just not what you think.*
Macaque had been your friend for a full year now. And you wanted to tell him what was wrong with you. You really did. But then again.
"You really think you're something special don't you?"
"Would you just shut up?! No one cares about your fake 'powers'!"
"Don't you think you're a little old to be pretending you're something you're not?"
Friends and family's words swirled in your mind. Would Macaque react the same way? He could be pretty brutal if he wanted to be.
"Kid!"
You looked up quickly as his tail gripped your gut and tore you back from an oncoming truck.
Macaque looked over you quickly.
"Geez kid, you could have died. What were you thinking?!"
You only shrugged. You had some type of fast healing. It would have hurt but you probably could have survived just fine. And that was only the beginning of your abilities. You could see auras, your own shone brightly. You could steal other people's magic and read how someone was feeling based on said auras.
"You seem weirdly calm about it." Macaque mentioned with a suspicious frown.
"Well, you did grab me so, no harm done."
Macaque put you down slowly but still stared at you.
"Uh huh."
An awkward silence overtook the conversation. You both walked on and your mind still spiraled. You glanced at Macaque. He seemed to be tossing glances your way, but was mostly focused on where he was going.
"Macaque?"
"Mhm?" He hummed cocking an eyebrow at you.
"There's something I should probably tell you."
"I'm all ears, kid."
"There's...there's something..wrong with me."
Macaque's gaze flicked over you.
"Nothing looks wrong." But something in his eyes changed. It was no longer nonchalant, now his look was sharp, though his body language remained the same. "You sick?"
"No." You mumbled feeling nervous suddenly. You weren't used to people taking you seriously. And Macaque was not one to ignore things. You had brought this to his attention. He would get to the bottom of it.
"Then what is wrong?" He prodded.
"Well it's... Hard to explain." You began.
Macaque frowned.
"Can you show me what you mean then?"
You thought for a moment. That would work. It'd be painful but it would work. You glanced around for something that might hurt but only slightly.
You would heal quickly from a scrape or a small prick. That's when you stumbled over your own feet and scraped your knees.
Macaque had attempted to catch you, but his focus had been on you, not where you were walking.
"You ok?" He asked crouching next to you.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." You explained simply allowing him to take a look at your knees. Blood dribbled from your left kneecap and Macaque offered you his hand. "No, this is perfect look." You gestured to your knees.
