The blistering heat was starting to take a toll on my mental state. I could swear that I could hear my friends... but they were no where to be seen.
"Are you okay? Do you need more bandaids?"Drew asked me, I shook my head. The 10 year old kid had stuck bandaids in every spot she concluded was "A major boo-boo" Which included my Adam's Apple, my chin, my entire left leg, my nose, and the zit on my forehead.
"Were almost there, don't worry."This child of Satan was surprisingly not trying to kill me, she was just a bit... annoying. The sun blistered down on us, I was using Drew for support, and the poor kid could barely stand my weight.
"Erik! Oh, my poor Bambino!"A devestatingly familiar voice called over to me."Who are you?!"I yelled to nothing.
"Uhmmm...I'm Drew!"Drew tried to shake my hand, but I kept staring behind us."You didn't hear that?"I asked. My vision started to get blurry, my head pounded.
"You don't look so good."Drew told me right before I fell to the ground, unconcious.I dreampt of Valentina.
I dreampt of her beautiful ginger hair, of her perfect sun-kissed skin. Oh Satan... Why am I like this? She stared into my eyes. Valentina could help me right now. She healed with her charm. I just wished I could admire her right now, she smelled like lavender. She reminded me of sleeping after a long day. And... she was in a whole different realm. I dreampt of her soft hand intertwined with mine.
I was shaken awake. My head felt like someone bashed it in with a metal pole. My stab-wound burned.
"Who's Valentina?"Drew asked me, it seemed to be night... and we were sitting by a campfire.
"Friend of mine."I mumbled.
"Doesn't seem like that from what you said in your sleep."Drew took a sip from her canteen."Water?"I asked.
"Sorry... it's not. It's dragon blood, only kid's of Satan can drink it and stuff."She gave me a sideways smile."It's already night, huh?"I stared at the night sky, shivering.
"Yeah, I couldn't carry you very far, you look scrawny but your heavy."Drew fiddled with her thumbs, she yawned."I can keep watch, You should probably sleep."I told her, she nodded, soon drifting off.
To be honest, I wanted to sleep too. I felt like death. I probably smelled like it too, Aella had my deodorant. Everyone bone in my body hurt. That's probably the natural response to being beat up by a grown woman, though. I could only feel pain in my left leg. My jaw felt like it was broken, I might've had a cracked rib, and I think I was burning up. I was hearing painfully familiar voices calling out to me.
And- Was I hallucinating that a half-scorpion dude was running at me?"I'VE FOUND PREY!"The scorpion dude yelled, crawling towards us. Yup. Not a hallucination.
His top half was a human, and his bottom half was that of a giant scorpion's. I tried to shake Drew awake, but the kid wouldn't budge.
"Okay... No big deal... I can fight you myself."I took my sword out of my scabbard, probably trembling.I tried to stab into the scorpion man's hard exoskeleton, it did nothing. The man chuckled, I backed away, still limping and barely able to stand. The man ran at me once again, his pinchers ready to chop me in half. I dodged most of his attacks just barely. The man was armed with a spear, trying to jab at me.
"I don't even need this spear! Ahah!"He laughed, raising his scorpion tail. I stared up in shock, he stabbed into my arm. I staggered, groaning in pain. My body tingeled and felt numb. Sweat seemed to pour off of my forhead even more than before, I panted.
The scorpion dude raised his spear, about to finish me off. I accepted my fate... maybe I would find a nice place in Hel- BAM! I looked over, Drew had knocked the dude to the ground, stabbing into his torso with her dagger, which I found oddly amusing, I started to giggle. The man soon disinigrated.
"What... was that?"I asked, noticing I slurred when I spoke. The symptoms of the venom must've been kicking in. I was slightly feverish, sweaty, my muscles twitched rapidly, and was drooling.
"An Aqrabuamelu, kind of like a centaur... but a scorpion."She looked back at me, examining my sting. "Everything here wants to kill me..."I mumbled, dazed."We have to get out of here fast, that doesn't look good."Drew lifted me up, fireman carrying me.
Why... was life so hard for me?
