I shook Octavia awake, she must've had a nightmare because a few peacock feathers sprouted from her skin.
"Wake up. I let you rest for thirty minutes."I told her, her feathers dissapeared.
"Okay!"Octavia replied, getting up and stretching. I looked over at Erik. I wondered what the poor kid was thinking about. And if he noticed that one button on his jacket wasn't buttoned like the rest. It annoyed me, so much. What if he remembered us... but this was all for some kind of sick prank of his?No. He wouldn't do that. I was sure of it.
As we left the museum I tried to recall where the gates to Hell were. I believe it was Washington. Though, I could be wrong... But I doubted that. I wasn't wrong often. As we walked to the nearest subway.. I thought about my first quest. Ezra, Loona, and Erik accompanied me. Erik had eaten the fruit of wisdom so we could find Ellisse, Ezra's sister. I remembered how he used to be slightly muscular, his arms were bigger... now... after being so sick... he was scrawny and sickly looking. He had eyebags from countless nights of trying to remember things, not to mention that his Adam's apple was tinted with an ash colour. A mark left on anyone who dare eat the fruit and live. Erik had gone insane... because of that apple.
"Aella. Aella? Hello?"Valentina waved her hand in front of my eyes.
"Ah, sorry... yeah?"I asked.
"Whatchu thinking about?"She wondered.
"Nothing much..."I muttered, continuing to walk. Shortly, we reached a subway, we payed and got on.I stared out the window, though there wasn't much to look at. I pondered why mother wanted me and only me to do this for her. She has a lot of kids... maybe because I was the only one at camp at the moment? Or maybe she just loved toying with me. How unfortunate.
Eventually, I fell asleep with no dreams what-so-ever. I believed I was asleep for about three hours, which was nice. Then I woke up. Suddenly, Erik screamed in pain. Everyone on the subway turned their heads.
"AGHH!"Erik groaned, he sprouted a feather from his arm, I instantly knew I had to rush him out off the subway. Which was good, because we just had reached our stop. I grabbed Erik's hand, and we all got off. We rushed off towards a nearby hill. I sat him down, he winced in pain.
"Erik. What happened?"I asked. Erik was slowly growing more feathers.
"I- I... She- and then-"He panted, and then screeched like an owl. "Hey... Hey... your okay. Your okay."Valentina assured him, taking his hand into hers. I knew by then that she was using her charm to calm him down. Wings sprouted from Erik's back, he yelled in pain. "ERIK! Your okay. Your fine. Your gonna tell me what happened. Your going to calm down."Valentina squeezed his hand, he panted. His wings went back into his back, but he kept his clumps of feathers."I saw... something- Like... a bunch of words and... and... I DUNNO!"Erik explained, his feathers going back into his skin.
"I'll try to ease the pain... but I might not be able to get it out. Maybe... you saw a propechy..? Possibly your an oracle..."I opened one of my flasks- which was filled with healing water.
"Open up. It might be a bit cold"I told him, his entire body was shaking. I did not trust him to hold my flask without spilling it. So, I helped him drink it. His feathers disapeared, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Sprouting feathers and a pair of wings takes energy, get rest. We'll haul you."I ordered.
"I'm completely fine! Look!"Erik stood up shortly before falling on his face, he snored."Alright. Let's get ourselves to Hell!"I quickly picked Erik up.
