🐉 Dancing In the Dark [Malleus X Reader]

It was quite a bright starry night and a certain dragon was lingering around Ramshackle Dorm. Malleus was just taking his regular stroll at night when he heard footsteps near him. He looked around, nothing. So he decided to find the person who was making those sounds and his eyes eventually landed upon you.

"What are they doing out in the middle of the night?" He mumbled to himself. He kept looking at you until he realized that you were dancing. He was speechless at how you moved so effortlessly under the moonlight. You were like a swan gracefully flapping its wings, the moonlight adding on to your beauty as it reflected your shadow under the light. It was as if you were on a stage, the spotlight only on you.

He could only stand there marveling at you until he noticed that you've finished dancing. He saw you walking to the front door, opening it to go in. You noticed someone staring at you and looked back, but the moment that you did, you didn't feel that presence anymore. Whoever was there simply went away.

"Huh?" You questioned. You knew that there was someone there watching you, but they were gone in a flash. Knowing that lingering at the door for too long to think about this matter is useless, you head inside.

Malleus teleported back to his bedroom, leaned on the door and slid down to the floor. He let out a sigh of relief that you didn't catch him looking at you. He'd be embarrassed if he did get caught. Once he got up, someone came into his room.

"Malleus, out for your daily walk again?" Lillia leaned on the doorway, raising a brow at him.

"Yes, today's walk was...well...better than the rest." He simply replied. Out of all the walks he's been on, this one may just be his favorite one as he's seen something new about you.

"Oh-ho, perhaps you've seen a certain person tonight?" Lillia crossed his arms smirking at the now flustered dragon who tried to come up with an excuse. The thing was, Lillia knew about Malleus' pining for you, and he would tease Malleus about it at any given moment.

"I only seen them dancing! That's all!" He brought his hand up to cover his now red face and glared at Lillia, who was chuckling at the doorway.

"Alright, alright, I won't linger too long on this matter. Goodnight now, Malleus, heheheh." Lillia turned and left Malleus standing there in the middle of his room. He sighed and closed his door and got ready for bed. All he could think about was you and even his dream that night was about you under the moonlight.

Each and every night, he would walk near Ramshackle Dorm in hopes of seeing you dance again, and each and every night you would be there, in the same spot under the moonlight and the glistening stars. And every night he would teleport back to his dorm whenever you turned your head towards his direction, hoping that you didn't see him. This wasn't something that went unnoticed by you though. At first you were getting really paranoid, and you continued to feel that until you saw something green sparkling in the distance.

"Ahhhh, so it was you." You shook your head as you recognized who it was that constantly stared at you when you were outside every night. So it was Malleus. Too bad that his little green fireflies outed him as they went away a bit too slow. Smirking to yourself, you went back to your dorm.

After what happened yesterday, today, you were going to forge a plan to catch him red-handed. Looking at the time, you head out into the same spot where the moon and the stars shined the brightest. From there, you began to dance. In the corner of your eye, you saw that the familiar dragon fae popped up behind the trees staring at you. With a smirk on your face you said out loud...

"Y'know, if you keep staring at me like that, I'll have to file a complaint for you being a creep~" You spun around and faced him. He simply flinched and froze behind the tree, like a deer caught in headlights. Putting your hands on your hips you let out a confident "hmph" as you saw him slowly come out from behind the tree.

"It seems that you have caught me red-handed." He averted his eyes away from you as you simply let out a chuckle. You walked towards him and grabbed his chin, forcing him to look at you.

"My eyes are here, Draconia~" You teased him which made him blush with a scrunched up face.

"Child of Man, you..." He got silent after that.

"I what hm?" You still kept your confident smirk on your face he let out a sigh before finishing his sentence.

"I never knew that you were the teasing type. It's quite...exciting." He looked at you with seductive eyes this time and a smirk. This time you were starting to blush a bit from what he said. You actually found his facial expression hot. Well, it wouldn't be good to stand here and do nothing so you decided to invite him.

"Malleus Draconia, may this humble child of man ask for a dance from you?" You bowed down and extended your hand. He widened his eyes a bit before smiling and graciously accepting your hand and walking you both to the spot where you regularly danced.

"Why yes of course. I, Malleus Draconia, shall accept your invitation to a dance."

The both of you danced under the night sky, your bodies both swaying with each other. Your hands were interlocked with Malleus' and both of you were looking at each other, both smiling at this opportunity. To you, Malleus looked quite mesmerizing. The way that his long hair fluttered with the wind and the way that he looked like a prince made you flustered. To him, you were like a jewel that he treasured. You were the only one that was not afraid of him when everyone else was and because of that, and all the interactions you've had with each other, he won't say that he didn't like you.

The way that the moon and the stars shined on you two, it was indeed just like what Malleus said about you. Like you were on a stage and the spotlight was on you. However this time, it was on the both of you. Dancing alone with each other in the small circle that the night sky lit on the ground made you both look graceful.

As your slow dance with Malleus ended, you thought that the mood was good enough for you to make a confession.

"Malleus, I...have a confession to make." You held both of his hands with your own and you looked down at his hands and rubbed circles on his hands.

"I do as well, (Y/N)." He spoke, making you slowly look up at him again.

"Then, let's say it together. One the count of three. One, two, three!"

"I like you-" Both of you had blurted out, staring at each other with wide eyes. Your mouth was agape and his was too. Snapping out from your staring you looked at him.

"Really?" He looked down at you with a serene expression and nodded his head.

"Yes, really. I truly love you, (Y/N)." Both of you were a blushing mess at this point and now both of you couldn't even mutter out a single word. Noticing that dawn was about to approach as the sky got a bit brighter, you realized that you've been dancing with him for the whole night. You probably won't be able to go to school as you didn't get any sleep at all. Looking at Malleus, you asked him one more time.

"Care to join me for one last dance before the light of day arrives?" This time you wrapped your arms around his neck, gazing at his eyes lovingly.

"Of course, (Y/N). This fool who is stupidly in love with you will join you for one last dance." You took his hand, and he took yours. Together, you both danced for one last time before the moon and stars disappeared.
