My head hit the ground sending a wave of blurriness into my vision. My ears rang loudly and everything seemed to go in and out. I could hear my heart beating in my chest. Loud. Clear. Fast.

The smell of death hung in the air.

I didn't want to look at Alex from beside me. I could only stare at the stars. Because the stars held a certain type of hope in them. Glowing so lightly, but yet so bright.

Something as little as a star could be as beautiful as the moon.

A panic rose to my chest making me shoot up from the ground and look at Alex from beside me. Realization hit me harder then anything ever has. He took a bullet for me. Once I took sight of him everything seemed to crumble like the day they took my family away from me.

Blood.

Blood was seeping from his chest and soaked his white shirt. He was laying on his back with his eyes fixated on the stars before they settled on me. He was turning pale and I quickly scrambled to his side. Lifting him I put him in my lap with shaky hands. The blood wouldn't stop. It keep coming and coming. My heart slowly started to weigh down the more blood that poured into his shirt.

"Alex.." I whispered with a shaky voice. I put my hands on his wound trying to stop the blood, but it seemed like it made it worse as the blood just coated my hands.

Just stop.

I wanted the blood to stop. I needed it to stop.

I felt cold shaky hands on my cheek and I froze as I looked at Alex. "Elisia calm down" he managed to get out using the last of his energy to say something to me. To touch me and reassure me of something I wasn't sure was happening. My vision was getting blurry and I wasn't sure why.

"No Alex..." I blurted out in a hurry putting more pressure on his wound.

"You'll be okay. It's going to be okay" I mumbled as my shaky hands tried to stop the blood. But the more my hands got shaky the more useless I was. I checked his pockets for his phone and once I found it I quickly tried to dial 911, but I was shaking and the blood on my hands made it difficult.

"Elisia-" he tired to talk, but he keep stopping to get air though his lungs.

I looked him in the eyes and it seemed like the light was slowly being sucked out of him. The line rang and rang until it went dead and I had to try again.

No.

He promised me.

"Please Alex." I begged him and then it suddenly felt like I couldn't breathe. My throat got clogged and I blinked so many times so I could clear the blurriness, but it wouldn't go away. The phone line went dead again and I had to throw it on the side. I needed to stop the bleeding.

I wiped at my face realizing too late that I had blood all over my hands.

My best friends blood.

"It's okay Elisia" he breathed out staring at me as he put a hand over mine.
