**Time skip - later that afternoon**

Y/n had woken up and realised Camilo was still asleep. They tried their best not to wake him when they rubbed the sleep from their eye. They looked around the room before looking back towards Camilo.

The dim light from his lamp cast a yellow shimmer on his face, and highlighted every feature on his face. It made him look like a shining god who protected them from danger.

Everything about that day was so chaotic and frustrating that Y/n wished they could go back to sleep and wake up in a perfect reality. A perfect life where they had Mirabel as their best friend, and parents to support them, and Camilo as..

What?

Thinking about Camilo brought back memories from their past. Memories from when they were younger, where no one had to think about drama and just be friends.

Y/n's mind wandered deeper into the past and eventually stopped on the day of Mirabel's gifting ceremony. They were running around with their friends but something didn't look natural. Everyone's faces looked like they had been smudged like wet paint.

The more they saw, the worse it got. Everyone seemed to turn into black silhouettes and time began to move quicker. Y/n spotted their mother and ran towards her. They touched her hand and asked what was going on, but she collapsed onto the ground just like she did when she passed.

Y/n took a step back before screaming in terror and fell to the ground. Time slowed back down again and everyone looked down at them with blank expressions, silently judging their every flaw.

Their vision became blurry with tears and their chest ached for air. Tears rolled down their face as they failed once more to take a breath. Voices flooded their ears and they struggled to stand. They felt a heavy weight on their shoulders.

Different voices were louder than the rest and they said things like 'Keep it together' 'She'd want you to stop being dramatic about it' 'It's not a big deal' and many other things floated around in the air until one shut them all out. 'You're not worth her time'

And with that, it all stopped. Time stood still and it all went silent. Nobody moved and nobody spoke. It was just Y/n. Alone. They felt as if they'd passed onto a new life. Everyone forgot about them and left them alone again.

Then a small voice broke through the silence. Y/n wasn't alone anymore! Someone came to save them from this hell they'd been trapped in. The voice got closer and pushed through the crowd. It sounded panicked and rushed, like they didn't have much time. They broke through the crowd and stood across from Y/n. They finally saw who it was.

It was Camilo. He came to help. Y/n tried to stand but still felt the aching pain on their shoulders. Camilo ran towards them and crouched down in front of them. He pulled them into an embrace and everything was normal.

They were both sitting on the floor of his room. Y/n was in Camilo's arms. They were back again. They couldn't make out any words to say so they just cried and hugged back.

They felt like a terrified child. They felt helpless.
