The plan Pt.2

This is it. This is the day I finally give him what's coming for him, and I can finally find out what happened to mom.

Y/n's head was swirling with a hurricane of doubts and worries. Their stomach felt like ice water, but it also felt like it was melting to their feet. It took all their will power to get up and walk over to Mirabel.

They touched her arm and she slowly opened her eyes. "I'm gonna go to Camilo's room. Goodnight." They lied. They hated lying to anyone, especially Mirabel. Mirabel knew almost everything about them, how could they break her trust like that?

She grumbled, but in the end she said goodnight and went back to sleep. Y/n stalked toward the door, before turning back and stared at Mirabel for a bit.

"I'm sorry, M. I'll be back before you know it." Their voice was shaky and it sounded more like they were telling it to themself over Mirabel. "I'm sorry I'm lying to you. Please forgive me when I'm back."

And with that, they tip-toed out the door and closed it behind it. By closing the door, they couldn't see Mirabel sit up in bed, very much awake. She listened close to hear Y/n's footsteps hadn't left the second floor. They also hadn't stopped at Camilo's door.

She got up from her bed and creeped over to the door, opening it with a quiet scrape. She watched as Y/n patrolled toward Bruno's door.

Bruno's door? Why are they going to his room? Mirabel thought as she silently walked over to a plant beside the walkway to Bruno's door. She peered out behind the plant to see Y/n knocking on Bruno's door six times.

The door cracked ever so slightly to show Bruno's frightened eye. He sighed and opened the door, showing him holding a flashlight and wearing dark clothes. Y/n seemed exasperated and they whispered something about not being able to get a flashlight.

Mirabel scooted behind the plant just a little more as Bruno and Y/n walked down the stairs. They both went into the kitchen and came out holding two flashlights.

Y/n led Bruno up a flight of stairs to the side of the house that led to a balcony. Y/n and Mirabel used that balcony to get up onto the roof all the time, and they even hide a rope around the back side of the roof so they could get down quickly.

Mirabel felt like her special place was being exposed, but then they remembered that it was Bruno who was being told. He'd gladly climb up there with them and swear not to tell anyone about it.

Mirabel didn't know where they were headed, but she was willing to forgive them when they got back.
