CHAPTER 16

Zenrie woke up with a massive headache. His head is throbbing and he wanted to smack his  head for drinking too much last night. Parang binibiyak ang ulo niya sa sobrang sakit nito at pati ang katawan niya ay mabigat din.

Hinilot niya ang kumikirot na sintido at marahang bumangon mula sa pagkakahiga. He was silently scolding himself for getting drunk because now he had a very bad hangover.

He looked around the room and confusion immediately consumed him. The room was dim, but he knew that he was not in his room, and when he felt someone beside him, he immediately looked to see who it was and was shocked to the core to see Zyrene peacefully sleeping.

Doon lamang niya napansin na wala din siyang suot kahit isa. His clothes were scattered on the floor, as well as Zyrene's clothes. His mind was a mess and he couldn't fathom what was happening. Masakit na ang ulo niya pero parang mas lalo pa itong sumasakit.

Dahan-dahan siyang umalis sa higaan at kinuha ang mga damit niya para isuot. His chest felt heavy because a part of him already knew what he had done and feeling bad about it was an understatement.

I cheated on my wife. He thought.

He wanted to kill himself at that moment because never in his wildest dream did he think of committing adultery.

But he just did. He did something horrible, something unforgivable.

He was just at the cemetery yesterday, apologizing to his late wife. He promised to love her and stay faithful even though she was already in the afterlife, but he failed to keep his promise.

He thought. He felt like a failure. He knew he couldn't blame anyone for what he had committed. He made his bed, and now he needs to sleep in it.

"Babe..."

He looked at Zyrene, who was slowly getting out of the bed, but it was only for a quick moment because he looked away the moment Zyrene removed the blanket covering her naked body.

Zen froze when Zyrene hugged him. He could feel her body against him. She's still naked, and it makes him feel very uncomfortable. Hindi niya maalis sa isip niya ang kasalanan na ginawa niya. Isang pagkakamali na hindi na niya mababago para itama.

He didn't want to be impudent, but he had to push Zyrene away. Hearing the things he did last night that he couldn't remember was too much for his conscience. He already knew what he did; he didn't need it to be slapped in his face.

His heart is breaking and he can only hold himself responsible for his mistake. It was a grave sin he perpetrated, and even he could never forgive himself.
