CHAPTER 14

CHANNEL checked herself on the mirror before going out of the room she's occupying. Sinigurado niya na hindi mahahalata ni Nicolas na may sugat siya sa braso kaya naman nagsuot siya ng long sleeve na damit. Ganito rin ang mga sinusuot niya noon para itago ang mga pasa niya na dulot ng pambubugbog sa kaniya ng asawa.

"Good Evening! How was your day here? Na-bored ka ba?" Tanong sa kaniya ng binata na kakarating lamang.

"Hindi naman. Nanood lang ako ng mga palabas sa telebisyon." Pagsisinungaling niya.

She spent the entire day in her room and she didn't even eat after what happened this morning.

"What did you eat for lunch?" Tanong ulit ng binata.

"Wala akong gana kaya nag-biscuit na lang ako." Another lie. 

Kunot-noo siyang tinignan ni Nicolas. "Why? May masakit ba sayo? Ayaw mo ba ng pagkain?" 

She shook her head in response to Nicolas's multiple questions.

"Wala. Hindi pa lang ako nagugutom." 

Nicolas sighed and tapped the sofa, signaling her to take a seat, which she did.

"Was it about last night?" Nicolas asked.

Channel immediately shook her head. She couldn't let Nicolas know that the kiss bothered her, especially after what happened this morning in his place. She did not want to worry him. Masyado na itong madaming inaasikaso lalo na ang annulment niya.

She's so grateful for all of the help he's giving her, and she didn't want to add another burden. Kung tutuusin ay hindi naman nito kailangan na tulungan siya ng sobra pero ginagawa nito. He gave her a place to stay, food and he's even paying for her annulment expenses. 

"Okay lang ako. Wala pa lang talaga akong gana kumain kanina." Pagkumbinsi niya dito para hindi na ito mag-alala pa.

"Fine. What do you want for dinner? I'll cook." 

Channel smiled. "Talaga? Marunong ka ba?"

Nicolas acted offended by what she said. "What do you think of me? I had to live by myself when I was in law school, so yeah, I know how to cook Miss."

Channel laughed. "Defensive mo naman! Oh sige nga ipagluto mo ako. Gusto ko ng pork steak." 

"Easy." Mayabang na sagot ng binata bago ito tumayo at nagtungo sa kusina para ipagluto siya.

She silently followed him and sat on the kitchen island counter.
