Chapter 29

People were shocked by Aika's reappearance. Who wouldn't? She was declared dead years ago.

Zen's relatives came to meet her. Some are still curious about whether she was telling the truth or if she was just pretending.

Some relatives of Zen who are very close to Zyrene would talk about her in a very obvious manner. But Aika kept her cool and decided not to say anything to them.

He would be the one who would defend her all the time from his pro-Zyrene relatives because he didn't want anyone badmouthing his wife. They had no idea what she'd been through to go back to him.

Even though they still don't live in the same house, despite the fact that it has been two months since she came back.

Aika chose to stay with her parents and spend more time with them.

At first, Zen didn't want it because he missed his wife, but he also understood that Aika wanted to be with her family.

Para tuloy silang bumalik sa mag-boyfriend o girlfriend na stage na lumalabas lamang kapag pwede tapos ay kailangan niya din ihatid ang dalaga sa bahay ng mga magulang nito.

This should not be the case since she's his wife and he has the right to tell her to live with him, but Zen didn't want to demand anything from Aika. At least not now.

"Ingat ka sa pag-uwi." Bilin ng asawa niya nang maihatid niya ito sa bahay ng mga magulang nito.

"Yes. I'll call you later." Sagot niya dito.

The two of them stared at each other. Para silang nasa labanan ng titigan dahil walang nagsasalita sa kanila.

Zen wanted to know what was running inside Aika's head and what her plan was for their marriage, but he was too scared to ask her. He was scared that the Aika in front of him no longer wanted to be with him. He was afraid of rejection, especially when it would come from someone he had missed for too long.

So he always makes sure not to say anything or demand anything from her. He didn't want to push her away, so he contented himself with what his wife could offer right now.

"I miss you." Pagbasag niya sa katahimikan.

But like usual, Aika only smiled at him.

Ilang beses na ba niya ito sinabi sa dalaga? Pero wala siyang narinig na sagot dito. Hindi niya alam kung galit ba ito sa kaniya o ano.

The Aika that he used to know would tell him everything, even if it would hurt him. The woman he married never sugarcoated anything. She was frank and gentle in her own way. But this Aika... she makes him question everything. She makes him wonder all the time.

Zen drove away from Aika's parents' house with a heavy heart. Miss na miss na niya ang asawa niya pero wala siyang magawa kung hindi hayaan ito sa gusto nitong gawin.

He decided to go to the cemetery first because it was close by. He bought two bouquets of flowers bago mag-drive papasok sa gate.

Nang makapag-park siya ay kaagad siyang bumaba sa sasakyan dala ang dalawang boquet ng bulaklak na binili niya.

Nang marating ang ipinunta ay inilapag niya ang dalang mga bulaklak sa puntod nito saka naupo sa  harapan nito.

"Anak..."

Hindi niya napigilan ang pagbuhos ng emosyon nang hawakan ang puntod ng anak. Dalawang linggo na mula nang mailipat nila ito dito sa Maynila at inilibing sa tabi ng puntod ni Channel na inakala niya noon na asawa niya.
