Heya! An early update :D.

So since I'm travelling for few days, I won't be able update till 10th of April.

Happy reading...

Continued from the last part...

The crunching sound of the newspaper filled the silence of the Malhotra's living room. Sitting on the carpeted floor, they were waiting for the breakfast while Prakash was reading the newspaper basking in the sunlight pouring inside through the windows, unaware of the unintentional glare that his elder son was boring on him. Manik also wanted to read the newspaper, but how to ask for it? Can't Prakash understand, that he cannot complete his breakfast without reading it? Or was it intentional? Maybe so!

Manas was playing ludo with Shivaansh and Rahul while Veer sat closer to Manik, doodling his un-abstractable art over a notepad.

"Yayy! I won!" Shivaansh jumped in happiness and Veer left the notepad and followed his brother, jumping on his butts making everyone chuckle. Truly said, a child's innocence can make anyone smile.

"Father had skipped his medicines last night and hasn't taken the morning dose yet." Manas said to no one in particular, while it was an obvious complain to Manik, trying to strike a conversation between the ridiculously close yet distant father-son duo.

"I am his father, not the other way round that you are complaining to him about me." Prakash grumbled folding the newspaper into two.

"Then can you explain the reason behind skipping the medicines? You just had your surgery last month if you don't remember!" Manik scolded Prakash nonetheless and Manas tried to hide his smile.

"I am absolutely fine now and don't need them." Manik's temper hit the roof hearing the lamest reason possible.

"Let the doctor decide that and you still need to take your diabetes' medicine. Till you don't take them, you aren't getting the newspaper back." Manik practically hissed and snatched the newspaper from his hand. Prakash cannot pass his day without reading it, definitely not when it is a holiday for him. Manik so knew that cause he was the same.

"It was all to get the newspaper back, isn't it?" Prakash questioned to Manik, glaring at Manas while both the brothers turned a blind eye to him making him huff in annoyance. He wondered, who was the father here?

By default, it was Manas' responsibility to take care of Prakash's medicines as Manik never involved himself directly but in some-times like these, when Prakash behaved as a child who hates medicines, then Manik always has to step in.

Taking out a new set of steel bowls, Nandini dished out the sweet and arranged in a tray while Madhu poured tea for everyone.

"Nandini, did you have your tea in the morning?" Madhu questioned as Nandini didn't make one for herself and Manik. She already knew about Manik's habit and somewhere wanted to initiate a conversation with Nandini. The girl seemed quiet and a bit intimidated.

"Yes!" Nandini whispered, a little scared if her sister-in-law was offended.

"Oh, okay. Tea shouldn't be drank empty stomach. Always eat something solid with it." Madhu advised with a smile and left with the tea, surprising Nandini as she found Madhu always reserved, her expressions never gave away anything while for Madhu, she was deep down satisfied with Nandini's entry in the house and Manik's life. After all, nothing could dim the light of Nandini's good morals and pure heart.

As Madhu was busy schooling her naughty sons to sit quietly, Manas volunteered to serve the paranthas to everyone from the casserole while Nandini came back with the sweet dish she cooked as her first 'rasoi', her head responsibly covered this time.
