Hey lovelies!
A small request- I understand everyone has a different way of expressing their feelings but sadly, wattpad doesn't. Kindly don't use any foul words as it is marked as offensive and comes under reporting. I don't want any such thing happening with the story. Wattpad is not reliable in that manner, I suppose. So yeah bear that in mind while commenting.
Happy reading!
........
Affixing the light golden and peach pallu of her peach chanderi silk saree, Nandini's gaze swung back and forth from her attire to her husband who was perusing his newest sweater at an arm's length as if it was the Taj Mahal, one of the wonders of the world she would like to visit.
The sweater was her articulation of atonement and she avidly and fervently hoped for him to accept it. Awashed with embarrassment and penitence, she could hardly find appropriate words to apologize to him.
Her brows creased, bothered to find him standing bare feet, his hair still wet after the bath and the cuff buttons of his cream shirt undone. It is winters for heaven's sake!
Careless with her own task in hand, she winced when the pin grazed her thumb, loud enough to distract him as he hastened towards her and sighed when she sucked her thumb with a guilty look. Wordlessly, he held out his palm and she kept the safety pin on it, removing her other hand from her shoulder that held the pallu in place, permitting him to do the needful.
Her eyes were glued over his face as he came to the other shoulder and hooked the inner loop of her blouse around the bra strap to keep it in place. Stepping back, he glanced at her and forgot to blink. Her eyes, radiating her inner guilt, love and respect, beheld his. Hypnotised by those innocent hazel orbs, his feet brought him close to her till his front touched her back. Smiling softly at her, he squeezed her shoulders, grounding her. That smile broke the ice giving her enough courage to initiate and assuring her that she would be heard and understood.
He felt her shoulders relaxing under his touch. His condition was no different as he was waiting for her to talk. It was important for her to get the ball rolling. His anger was the result of her, disguising her true emotions and fears before him and lying. Even if he admits his fault, nothing would change and he would react similarly if she happens to lie again or hide her distress, which makes his apology meaningless and he did not believe in apologising just for the sake of it. He had tried amending his actions by understanding her expectations and eradicating her fears. Now he sincerely hoped and wanted her to come out clean. That would be the only apology he can accept if she has to offer any.
Tugging her lower lip inwardly, she picked up two boxes of gold necklaces and turned around, implying him to choose one. Selecting a simpler one he made her wear it and she anticipated a compliment from him, pining her hopes on it so she could start talking, but nothing came from his side and he turned aside to walk away.
"Do I look the most beautiful bride, today?" His feet froze hearing her faint whisper. Her voice was shaky and eyes emoted a strange incertitude and fickleness that shoved past all his reticence. Her words and actions were alarmingly rendering him impuissant.
Gripping her left elbow gently, he yanked her towards him and she held his shoulder to steady herself as the probity in those smouldering honey brown orbs knocked her off balance. Her lashes slightly flickered when she felt his cold knuckles brushing her rosy cheeks. Leaning against his consuming touch with her eyes closed, she heard him murmur, close to her ears.
"Aap humare liye humesha behad khubsurat rahengi, Nandini."
(You will always be beautiful for me, Nandini.)
